I hope there isn't a nuclear incident in West Melbourne from 37387 microwaves simultaneously burning membership cards come semi-final time.

My best mate is a Freo supporter. So we put a little bet on the Saints-Freo game, and thanks to a blitzing fourth quarter his cat is now a Saints Pet Member!

:D:D:D

1711 members left to break our all-time record :thumbsu:

It wont be...as has already been posted hre, the AFL no longer audit membership figures and remove spurious memberships like pet and non-game memberships. That record figure would be at least a couple of thousand higher if it hadnt been audited...so Im afraid its apples and oranges.

Are you saying the AFL don't count international memberships? (I think we are non game, but I'm not sure actually)

I think we'll be lucky to get to 38k but 37.6k is a fantastic effort.

We must aim for 40k next year and do everythng we can to achieve that target. A good off season of trading/drafting will only help here...

I think the club will do it...

Who is waiting until Round 11 to buy a membership?
People who buy the discounted 3-game membership tasters the Saints will start selling right before the bye.

Those figures really prove how many more different memberships are counted. North4k above our best would never happen if it was counted the same as 2010. I reckon the equivalent of our membership now would be close to 45k so that should be our aim next year to say it's a record even though 40k will be counted as a record. As I've said before the afl have been very smart on this

sorry to reign on everyone parade but this is why raw membership no.s can be deceiving, were down almost 2k a game vs interstate teams going off the no.s so far. they would wanna lift IMO if people wanna legitimise membership totals instead of actually what the membership is IMO.

for example we have only 1k less members than the dogs but get 8k less to games which would be killing us financially

Home attendances against clubs from different states (No Derbies, Showdown or QClash)

Excludes interstate home games (e.g. Tasmania, Canberra, Alice Springs).

This measures a clubs pure drawing ability.

those figures are shameful.

Edit: although hardly a great sample size, as I think we've only played GWS and Freo at home so far. GWS can only get 9000 fans to home games, so it's doubtful that there's many in or coming down to Melbourne, whereas there are a few fans of other more established interstate sides living in Vic. Of the games we play over interstate clubs in 2016, the only ones with big crowds themselves or good teams to take an interest in are played outside Victoria, with the exception of GWS and Sydney, whereas other clubs have played Port, Crows and Eagles in Vic as well.

Still doesn't excuse the low attendance, but puts it in some context.
