Interesting re Ramsey, I thought he might have been worth perservering with.

Tried him forward and back. Just not good enough in either position.

If they were 50/50 on him then the game against Sturt would have sealed the deal on getting rid of him.

I got the impression Ramsey was told that week and was probably the reason for his poor game.
He hadn't been that bad all year

how has Pyke sucked the natural talent out of the players?

Imo, he seems very focussed on roles and structures. You see Hawthorn do creative tap ons and other clubs have people look to really break lines by selling there way through traffic etc. It seems such an emphasis has been put on structure that unless you're an out and out freak like Eddie, you play to the structure. Charlie breaks lines with pure speed and Atkins draws opponents with nimble feet, but otherwise, who amongst the players is thinking outside the square?

Does that make sense?

I don't really buy that sort of stuff at all. You know why Eddie and Charlie and Atkins do those things? Because they can. Laird, Hartigan, Talia, Thompson, Mackay, Douglas, Sloane, Crouch's, Brown, all those blokes aren't the type to pull that sort of stuff.

Has Lever stopped selling candy whenever he can? Has Tex stopped being slick with some of his kicks and handballs? Milera danced around more than a few blokes, the ones that can do, the rest can't because they can't, not because structures and instructions tell them not to.
