Parker is in the same boat along with Hanners i imagine its because 50% output from them is better than the alternative? which i guess is alarming.

Oh Buddy playing with a busted rib as well.

But it never works? See mcveigh in the grand final

And long term, jacks contracted to 2019, so lets play him with a bad hip injury? Thats just dumb anyway even if he plays ok

Besides when we do it we seem to struggle, so rest them, get them right and wear short term pain

Whats the worse case, we sit 0-5?

Its a area where we can improve on as a whole perhaps blame is to be put on the players as well?

It does work, though. It's classic confirmation bias, only noticing it when it doesn't work.

Players push through injury all the time, often quite successfully.

In Kieren's case, it hasn't. He's played 3 shithouse games in a row (was 50/50 against the Dogs), and they've pulled the plug.

I think you can separate pushing through the regular niggles, or a jab to the ankle for a grannie (T richards) versus clearly lacking fitness/impacting ability to play out a game injuries

Those are the issue and we keep doing it lately and that has not worked imo sorry

But where's the line? You try and play through an injury - if you succeed, it's a "regular niggle", if you can't it's one that's "impacting ability to play out a game". You'll never know if you don't try.

What i mean is Parker leg being wrapped up in so much tape that he can barely chase ditto Jack who just went to ground at every contest because of mobility issues.

Fair point. But surely there are some obvious ones, eg this hip injury, and try it once, but god he was poor every week, so when do you give up?
Or i dont know have a decent fitness test?wont that rule people out?

We have gotten it wrong a lot lately. So whatever we do needs reviewing

Jack was ordinary in Rd 1, and 50% bad/50% pretty good in Rd 2. He's only been shit for 3 games, and he's been dropped/rested accordingly.

You don't really drop a player with Jack's credits after 1 poor game. Maybe they could've made the call a week earlier, I guess. They possibly would have if we we weren't at the position injury-list wise where we were already playing Fox, Foote and Florent in the team.

Fair enough. i think jacks been on the decline for a while, a hip injury is a risky one to play through. Maybe i am too cautious, but i take your point, there are times it works fine

I take your point, too. I want to rest Parker and whoever else, but I just don't know if we can afford it.

Or an elite midfielder...and an easier draw for once.
I thought all the years with a tough draw - eg. Hawthorn twice, Geelong twice, was to our advantage in that you want to play the top teams to be prepared for the finals.

Sure but this year's one hasn't helped. Say we drew Brisbane or Carlton or GC early, might have made our start a little less bad. I always like a hard last couple of games leading into finals though.

That's always been my thinking.

Anyone. Anywhere. Anytime.
