Fully expect the club to wear the fine from our end, rather than penalising the players for sticking up for the skipper.

St Kilda, on the other hand, will probably dip into the pockets of a few of the instigators (privately of course).
Wouldn't be surprised if Saints was other way around. Publicly state that they are passing it on to players, but privately the club pays the lot.

AFL to suspend players for gut, jumper punches

Good but also need to fine players who stage. Another grey area to add to the rules.
Before the MRP arrived, if an umpire spotted someone throwing a punch to the guts or throwing a jumper punch, the player would be reported for striking. The rule is already in the books so why doesn't the AFL use it more. This is the sort of s**t that the MRP was supposed to be for... not the one stop shop for light penalties. When was the last time anyone went to the tribunal? Lewis and Hogan should have been referred to the tribunal, but the MRP steps in and hands out some light punishment.

No different to "hands in the back rule" and "deliberate out of bounds", both rules have always been in place but because they have not been enforced correctly the AFL go and modify it to the extreme and open up the laws to interpretation. Put the rules in place in black and white and then everyone knows what is going on. MRP is just a joke.

I agree, the "out of bounds" rule, could be made easier for umpires to interpret.

Free against the last player to touch the ball, unless in a marking contest or smother. The AFL would still have their desired look for the game, with removing more of the stoppages and umpires would not have to determine a player's intention

Ryan Clarke, North Melbourne, has been charged with engaging in rough conduct against Matthew Wright, Carlton, during the second quarter of the Round Nine match between North Melbourne and Carlton, played at Etihad Stadium on Sunday May 28, 2017.
In summary, he can accept a $1000 sanction with an early plea.

Based on the available video evidence and a medical report from the Carlton Football Club, the incident was assessed as careless conduct with low impact to the head. The incident was classified as a $1500 sanction. The player has no applicable record which impacts the penalty. An early plea enables the player to accept a $1000 sanction.
