So if Tyler Brown doesn't get selected/bid on in the National Draft am I right in saying that we just then nominate him as one of our rookie picks?

Would this be a better option for us or would it just be easier to add him to the main list with our last live pick (if no bid before hand)?

Brown sliding to the rookie draft gives us greater flexibility in the big dance.

We'll likely use late picks to upgrade Cox and Thomas.

I wouldn't be surprised if Thomas is retained as a rookie. There's no requirement to upgrade him to the senior list until the end of next year and there are no restrictions on playing rookies next year, so keeping him on the rookie list and running with a list of 38/9 makes sense, especially if we're saving $$$ for Lynch next year.

Should have a shot at Fogarty or Coffield, 1 of them will 100% be there.

Not so sure about that. Brisbane are rumoured to be overlooking him because he doesn't want to leave Vic. Given they just lost Balic for a packet of chips I think they'd be cautious about using an ultra early pick on a kid who might pack up in 2 years. As much as it shits me to say it, Carlton are in the box seat for Rayner.

Who cares what fans are saying? There's no way they'll take him at 2 given he's pretty much guaranteed to be there at 5. They'll probably end up with Cerra and Hayes and then all be melting because they have such a hard on for Fogarty on that board.

I hope we get Bonar, but I like a punt. Many of the top fancies look like very likely to beome very good footballers, but to me, he's the one in the whole draft who looks like having the potential to become a game breaking star.

My first 6 based on the new order would be;

# 1 Lions - Luke Davies-Uniacke.

Great fit for them.

# 2 Fremantle - Paddy Dow.

There are some question marks on whether Rayner would go home. SOS probably fuelling them

# 3 Carlton - Cameron Rayner

He is a perfect fit for them and they can get another mid at the next selection

# 4 North Melbourne - Jayden Stephenson

I reckon the kids flair will appeal to North along with his ability to play multiple roles

# 5 Fremantle - Adam Cerra

Just a really classy mid and along with Dow gives them two terrific kids to work with

# 6 Collingwood - Nick Coffield

I think Pies will go Coffield. Couple of areas to improve but very classy player. Reckon Bonar would be a big chance.

I think when you have a super draft, you take best available. But when it is even and there isn't real standouts, you go more needs based.

I would say our biggest need is KPP stocks long term, but short term it is run off half back and foot-skills coming out of defence.

Considering there aren't really any great KPP's, the biggest need is probably someone like Coffield. He can have a pretty immediate impact I reckon.

If the club think Brander or Balta are going to be stars, then I still think KPP is the bigger necessity. But i'm not convinced on either, so Coffield is probably the one standing out.

Clubs: Bendigo/Allies

Position: Key Defender/Key Forward

Size: 194cm, 89kg

Bio: Brander was eligible to GWS as part of its academy system, before an AFL rezone ruling in April put him on the open market. Rival recruiters will be delighted. Able to occupy a key-position role at either end of the field, the 194cm Brander has done so effectively throughout the year. His intercept work in defence is promising, but he perhaps enjoyed his best performance of the season playing forward for the Allies. On that occasion, he presented well high up the field and worked hard back to goal. Brander is probably the best key-position player available in the draft.

There's a real air of Pendlebury about Coffee, the way he moves and even where he sits in the draft, a lot of mocks have him just outside the top 10 like Pendles was in his year
