His highlights video looks very exciting than either Callum or Josh Daicos's did. Super clean hands, balance, poise, evasiveness, smart - albeit unconfident decisions - as he looked a bit too prone to hand off.

Yup...he seems to have a lot of improving to do..what really amuses me is the contrast between the love shown here for Callum last year and the almost lack of time spent pondering Tyler. I guess as someone said the sentimental vote is all tapped out this year...

Tapatalk isn't doing a great job with tags so didn't get this until I scrolled back.

Brayshaw has one thing that everyone can agree on - he will be a 200-game player. The reason I'd pick him at #6 is not so much his own traits, but what he offers to a team. You know he's a future captain, can play anywhere if required and just goes in and gets the job done. The gap between his best and worst games is not huge, so he has great consistency. He's a huge endurance beast, and one of those blokes that when you look down the list ticks most of the boxes. More importantly, he has those acts of courage that make his teammates stand taller and lead by example. Not the same talent nor player, but he reminds me a little of Michael Voss in the way he just wills himself to each contest and attacks it fiercely.

His knock is that he has very few offensive weapons, or "X-factor", and while he might not be that get everyone wet player, he's the type that you'll walk home from a game and go "Another great game" or "Just does everything right that kid". He's not going to be the kid that boots five goals in a last quarter to win the game off his own boot. He will be the bloke that somehow wins the ball against two opponents and uses every bit of energy left in his body to kick it forward to a teammate to kick the winning goal. He won't be remembered for game performance as such, more little moments that can change a game in his own way. Maybe not directly, but certainly indirectly by an action.

I have him ranked at #7 on my rankings, but if we're not going to pick Coffield or Stephenson, he moves up a couple of spots, and I'd take Cerra ahead for the extra class, but I'd be very happy with Brayshaw because of his discipline and leadership. Think Taylor Adams' standards if Adams could kick and was an endurance beast.
He sounds good, but doesnt stand out as much as the other top 5/6 propects to me. Unless he has the potential to be Trent Cotchin or Selwood, I'd rather we go with some of the bigger bodies with greater hurt factor.

Had a quiet All-Stars game - he wasn't in the best 12 on the ground, as well as grand final from memory. Its the Martin, Fyfe, Bont, Danger, Pendles type that we need at pick 6 to hit the scoreboard & help turn games.

Brayshaw was being tagged/defended heavily in the GF even though we know they are technically not allowed to.

I agree there are others I rate higher, Brayshaw is at my #7 in my PR because of that perceived next level factor which others have and he doesn't. But I'm including him in the discussion because if there's a bloke you look at that will be 200 games it's him. I don't think Selwood is so much of a stretch for Brayshaw to be honest. Similar type career. Nothing Selwood does apart from his courage and inside ball winning stands out apart from other top mids, and Brayshaw has those qualities.

It's all academic as I'll be stunned if Freo don't take him.

Yep that's the confidence. You're drafting Brown on what he could be, not on what he is now. His scope is huge and any player that can move and has a high footy IQ, even with nothing else, has recruiters frothing at the mouth because it means they are teachable and can make good decisions once they have the confidence and skills to execute those decisions. Brown has the skills, he just needs the confidence.

At 38 it’s a no brainer, IMO. Looking at it evenly I would say he’s more likely to make the grade at Collingwood than Callum, it’s a weaker draft, he has the traits you mentioned and you know he will fill out given his genetics.

I would like Apex36 to be bang on with our trade week discussions about worst case scenarios with Brown because it would give us much more flexibility, but you can’t always get what you want. It would appear to lock us in to one of Fogarty or Naughton at 6 though if we expect the 30’s bid.

Seen a few people link us to Dom Barry. Interesting pick up later in the draft. Better then someone like Crameri anyway. And Matty Lokan coached him last year so we have the inside word there.

Coupe of questions.
Firstly on the AFL official website in the draft order there is no listing of our pick 70 from Sydney. What am I missing here?
Secondly, why is everyone assuming that Brown will slip to this pick (if it exists). Trade hub has him rated in the 25-50 range.

I believe we don't have enough list spots to utilise pick 70. Conjecture on Brown growing that a bid will come earlier, hopefully after pick 38!

After the 2nd list lodgment...assume we already had 36 players on senior list (including Murray), hence we can only use our first four picks.
We needed to delist another player to use pick 70.

So getting pick 70 and giving up next years second to the swans was pure brilliance from the club then.
I'm sure there must be something that I don't quite understand here, but if your info is correct then how people can say our club isn't incompetent is beyond me.
Give up a 2nd round pick for a rookie and get a pick you can't use in exchange. Am I understanding this correctly.

You are. I’d let it go because anyone that doesn’t understand it in the same way you and I do never will for one reason or another. It’s just the way some people choose to support the club.

Ok my mail today is that I think the following will happen;
1 - Rayner
2 - LDU
3 - Dow
4 - Brayshaw
5 - onwards not sure but Freo likely take Cerra

Also seems likely that Fogarty and Stephenson will slide. I know 2 clubs have put a line through Stephenson. The knock on Fogarty is what role will he play. Not a great runner so midfield is out.

Chance LDU slides as there is a feeling that whilst best is v good the difference between best and worst is reasonable. If he doesn't get #2 then he could be at #4 or 5.

Liam Ryan very unlikely to not get taken by WCE. Clubs aren't 100% sure on his ability / want to stay interstate.

Lach Fogarty may go pick 11, more likely if Bonar gone.

Will update the phantom shortly as well as some other moves i might make based on some of the feedback thats changed my view on a few.

norton.png This bloke come to mind for anyone else when they heard we might be getting Aaron Naughton?

Can we use the pick as currency for F&S bids even if we don't have a list spot?

I actually loved Daicos Highlights and the full games i saw of him pre draft. You could see the way he moved, used the footy and decision making that he had all the attributes to transfer into a classy player, hence my pre draft Alan Didak like comments.

Brown jnr mk2 looks much more average joe in comparison.
