Last Saturday, I had dinner in Bulimba with friends and their father, who is on a board with Leigh Matthews.

Leigh lives in the area and came down for dinner with his wife. We ended up sitting together, and I told him a story about doing a corporate event at the Lions and the guy hosting (Ben something) misread his notes and introduced me as a Port supporter.

I made a joke to Leigh that I would have been offended if the host had just assumed that.

Leigh said "why would he - if you're from Adelaide, everyone would think you'd have to be a Crows man."

I know that's a dickish name drop, but I just wanted to mention it, because NO ONE assumes anyone they meet would be a Power supporter.

You're a little club, with a tiny base.

We're a power club, with the majority of supporters and resources.

You're spot on. However, it would be great if we could use that off field power to win premierships and retain players. I would rather have 10,000 members if it meant we could win a premiership every 10-15 years.

At board level that might be the case, and it might have been the reason to pursue China. I'm just relating what the club policy is now - particularly when we have China Power Club members who are supporters and sponsors of AFC.

But China hasn't worked ! Wait yo see how low your crowd is this year after last year's " novelty" effect has disappeared.

You've got no money here from any of those Chinese companies - they are only sponsoring you over there!

So the billions Sally Zou has in her brown paper bags ain't making their way to you. No sponsor - you're selling BLANK guernseys - and yet you're not embarrassed by that ! You almost think it's good !

Do you not understand that nobody cares about you over there.
Oliveball - you changed the name of the game to ****ing Oliveball !!!!

The mere fact that your heirarchy think they have the right to charge members to explain why your club has turned to shit is absolutely hilarious !

Still didn't answer my question...or maybe you just did by the fact that you side stepped it :D

And you missed my point - I wasn't talking about 'community work', but being part of the community instead of apart from it and glorified as celebrities. Didn't Walker get a police escort to a pre-season game in Clare once?
At least the Police are friendly with Crows players, as opposed to players putting them in headlocks, or doing runners from the scene...

Also not having a sponsor by the jumper launch date is unforgivable and incompetent
It's rare & embarrassing.

To try & spin that it is a good thing to sell jumpers with blank sponsor spaces is Janus delusion at it's absolute best... as of course the club would prefer to have a sponsor like in previous years.

Why would potential sponsors be concerned with Ports fixture? Don't they know Port's games are broadcast to millions of Chinese?
I thought they were meant to have Chinese & other international sponsors clammering for Port sponsorship deals... yet as it stands, we have the SA government chipping in more money & their sponsor Ausgold being investigated for dodgy practices...

I never 'spun it as a good thing'. I just gave a reason as to why it hasn't happened yet. Why do you think we are looking for a new GM - Commercial? Because the one in the job at the moment isn't competent enough to sell the benefits we can offer to major sponsors.

What if he was more referring to your general attitude as to why you'd be a Crows man? I mean, seriously, who the **** cares about you being introduced as a Port Adelaide supporter? Certainly not Leigh Matthews. You make it sound like the host gave you leprosy.

As Shaun Rehn said once: "If you've seen one Crows supporter, you've seen them all."

You gave a make believe reason as to why it hasn’t happened. Perhaps Port just aren’t appealing enough.

As for Kristof, put yourself in his shoes, if it happened to you you would have also had a joke about it. But you would have gone one further, you would have shown Leigh heat maps and bored him shitless with your theories on football. Afterwards he would have had you comittted.

It’s amazing when you think about it, we were told this China thing, which is a disruption to their football program, would bring them endless sponsors, but they’ve lost their major sponsor and can’t replace them. You couldn’t make this shit up.

My friends? They run a large logistics company (they build infrastructure). They've done the Lion's season launch at my work a couple of times as well, fwiw. Brisbane is a small town.

LOL - no, that's not what he meant.

He meant no one would presume someone from Adelaide was a Port supporter instead of a Crows supporter.

I joked about being offended. The host just misread his notes, I think.
