Re: Kelly he most definitely is an inside mid at WAFL level. Clearance and contested ball machine from the numerous games I've seen in the last two years. The fact he has speed and is a beautiful user just means he has numerous strings to his bow. If there's one guy I hope we get in this year's draft, it's this guy. I'm in the minority, but I'd be more than happy if we reached for him early.

I think 37 is a stretch. This is his 6th draft so to date 500 picks have been taken before him.

But a pick in the 40s or 50s in a weaker draft is about right but we dont have a pick in the 40s or 50s
Have Ah Chee and Tim Kelly played together in South Fremantle colt before?

Agree Allen but then again is not a tall he is a tweener.

As far as the talls go I see it a little differently to you in my ratings:

Naughton.
Brander.
Ballenden. love his ball use just worry that the pace of the game at the next level may test him.

Then for me Balta, Taylor , Krueger, Clavarino , Petty all much the same talent line, but all bring something different to a list.

As far as Brisbane playing funny buggers I think it was a tactical move to do the trade with Richmond to get a second pick in the first round fired off before they had to match a Ballender bid , likewise it suited Richmond to trade back to accommodate a Naish bid.

With all the chatter and fluff about us and Allen , thats very unlike us and I wonder if we too are playing ducks and drakes.

How do you rate naughtons kicking? To me it looks horrible. Would go Brander.

Is it possible we could go Brander and then Allen with our first two? And use the others for mids, thus justifying our trade to get more second rounders, given there are a bunch of second tier mids around that 20-40 mark?

I really hope masten is Hitting the gym hard this offseason and working on his mental toughness. Who cares if he doesn't smash the 2 km time trial record.

Seen him twice at the gym in the past two weeks, no weights work, fittness work only....

A few more highlight videos from giantroo are trickling through.

Got to like Miers. When they have handball practice, he is excused and goes off for goal kicking practice. Love the way he gets the ball and just knows where the goals are. Instinct.

Tim Kelly is the ideal second string mid. Has the class and polish to be the cream on top type player but the fact he can win his own ball and kick snags means that he is more valuable than the that type of player. He would definitely complement the rest of our mids

Agree that the style ( or lack there of ) looks woeful and ungainly.

But here is the thing its generally effective ..... weird as that may sound, he he hits as many targets as some most of his cohort.

Brander plays both ends and that always rates very highly in my assessment of talent, not sure where he is best suited to at this stage of his development, but thats not a bad problem for the coaching team to have to work there way through.

From those three:
Big yes to Miers, do want :heavycheck:
Wouldn't mind Starcevich :!?: But not with one of our second rounders
Big no to Garner, vanilla :heavymultiply::heavymultiply::heavymultiply:

HBF

Amazing how highly other supporters (Bishop included) seem to rate Ryan, constantly being touted as a 2nd round pick.

Good luck to them if they want to run the risk on him for that price.

They are East Coast residents and I would bet that they have formed their opinions based on the highlights reel.
