Could we lure Jake Stringer perhaps?
Been lots of speculation that he wants out of the Bulldogs or that they should trade him.
Doesn't want to leave Victoria. Has split up with his spouse and he has 2 kids with her.

Whatever issues Lamb has that are holding him back, fitness isn't one of them. Would be in the top 5 aerobically fittest players at the club
Been training down the house has he. I've heard that somewhere else before ;)

Josh Schache wont be at Brisbane next season evidently ...Richmond keen with their Late first round pick .

Have heard some rumors to this up this way actually. He has all the talent but heart is apparently in Victoria and is looking to leave but only on good terms for the club. Lions naturally only willing to let him go for something worthwhile. Apparently are looking to Carlton and Adelaide for a threesome involving Gibbs to Crows, McGovern to Lions and Schache to the Blues with further work over picks thrown in.

Seems it may have wheels, although it is the first I've heard involving the Tigers however.

So it involves 2 players that have signed contracts this year? Highly unlikely

While Kochie's timing may have been awry - I cannot argue with his sentiment.

“We don’t want players who are living their dream just by playing AFL footy. We want players who want to win a premiership,” Koch said.

“If they’re not prepared to win a premiership for this club, we basically don’t want them. Let us know and we’ll trade them.”

Sometimes I wonder if some of our players, Masten, Schofield & Wellingham have lost sight of the fact they are, first and foremost, footballers.
Saying that to a bunch of blokes who just lost a final in that manner is pretty rough though. All of them were shattered post match.

I love the sentiment, but bring the whole squad together a week later before they go on leave. Don't go telling off a bunch of blokes who came within Luke Shuey of making a semi final.

Reeks of that guy from HR who comes in and tells you that the clipboard says you're doing your job wrong.

I'm that guy from HR. The clipboard doesn't lie...

Not saying that it will happen - I personally believe Fagan will bring Josh around actually well before it gets to a point of complete breakdown between the player and the club.

Just have heard that the Lions preference is for a ready-made replacement in the right age group in the case that they should lose him rather than going back to the draft for a key forward with the shortlisted targets apparently being B.Brown, T.Lynch, M.McGovern and Darling with the current feeling that M.McGovern would be the most likely to receive a successful outcome.

That said, this is from the same source that told me earlier in the season that Darling plus pick in exchange for Rich (and a gentleman's agreement over not matching a Rockliff RFA offer) was all but done until Darling became a father so take from that what you will.

I reckon Schofield gets a bad wrap because of his association with Masten and there seems to be a perception that he is just a lazy alternative hipster type that only gives a shit when he wants to.

Wellingham gets lumped into that group too because he's a bit of a pretty boy but is probably one of the tougher players at the club (albeit he has become a butcher). I think these are lazy criticisms.

wellingham isn't tough . He likes to go a cheap shot bump on occasion but the amount of times he stays down to crumb front and centre when he needs to spoil or go for the mark is infuriating .

Wellingham is a bit of a potato. Had a good 2015 but didn't do much before and hasn't done much since.

I don't think Schofield is lumped in with Masten and Wellingham. Yeah he's had the hipster beard/man bun but he's been pretty consistent. Problem is he's a 'tweener. If we play Barrass, E-Mac and Gov there's no room for another 196cm defender. We've pigeon holed him as a defensive third tall for a decade so it's probably too late to change that now, and with Sheppard and Yeo we have better, smaller attacking options at half back. It's a bit of a hang up from the Worsfold 'defenders defend, forwards forward' game plan, but Simpson has been in charge for 4 years.

Schofield has played 164 games and averages 11 touches a game, having had 20 or more a whole 5 times. Someone like Josh Gibson averaged 20+ for a number of seasons. Schoey is 196cm tall, a fantastic runner and a good user of the ball over 50m. At his best he was taking multiple bounces a game and taking the game on, in the last 3 seasons he's had 6 bounces in total. I reckon we've wasted him as a low possession, defensively focused player when he could've been a real weapon.

He's got a mean sidestep as well. Could've been really useful on a wing. I think the 2015 defensive crisis almost ruined him and Wellingham. Like you said, they were pretty much pigeonholed for defensive positions, even more so after EMac went down. It's to late now theyre both declining but with the emergence of Barrass a few years ago I think we may have missed a trick with those two.

Schofield had to get jacked when Emac/Brown went down, then had a good season as a lock down fullback. The rest is history

May be Charlie Cameron and not Gov Jnr as the target ..

Essendon are into Stringer is the tip ..

Thats going to be interesting to watch as Adrian Dodoro has a reputation of being a notoriously difficult and belligerent trader.

Given that Stringer in still contracted thats set up a protracted war of attrition.

Essendon in general and Dodoro in particular have form as being the Club that holds up and hijacks the trade period.

The difference in this trade in that the Doggies hold all the Aces.

Would pick 10 or 11 be enough for Stringer ?

Not sure to be honest but I don't think that Essendon will be the only interested party so The Doggies will be able to get something better than that or at least hang out for more.

Given that he wants to stay near his kids and remain in Melbourne, look at who else is in need of third tall forward.
Collingwood, North, Carlton, Saints, Melbourne Richmond and Geelong so I expect the offers to be plentiful.

Hunter Clark stats for the weekend:

24 disposals.
1 mark.
16 tackles.

We had a guy who could tackle well once... a bit polarising on this board... do we want another?

Probably not ;)

However this one has pace and is exceptionally good overhead.

Has played of a HBF so that gives him a chance.
