Other than Shuey although he's an outside mid gaffs still pretty valuable,if we get two good inside mids that can kick it and you'd assume our recruiters are chasing just that gaff can do his job as a ball carrier with less pressure

It's a worry Falco.
Another example of poor player development at East Perth.
When I watched him at Eagles training early in the year , they had him doing lots of run throughs from the wing bouncing the ball and then shooting for goal from the 45 / 50 mark...... he didn't miss to many .

I thought this was an indication that we may be grooming him as an attacking wingman...... alas it was not to be.

I see him long term as being a great option on the wing.

So because an 18 > 19 year old Rotham doesn't come in after one preseason and cement himself in as an AFL winger its 'not to be?'

Unless you are a freak athlete it will take several preseasons for a kid to develop the endurance to play as a winger. I wouldn't give up on him just yet unless they discovered some reason he can't put the km in his legs and do the work required.

My hope is that Rotham is developing as a defender in order to improve his defensive/contested game. Personally, I think his future lies up the ground and I hope the club feels the same way. Historically speaking, we generally like to develop players on a flank before trying to move them in to the guts or to a wing. Rotham is seriously evasive and has speed and skill. I think he could be a better version of what Jetta has been for us.
