Wasn't the word on the streets last year that Gaff wanted a longer contract but due to player negotiations and the potential salary cap, the two parties settled on 2 years with a third year as a trigger?

Something seriously must have gone wrong this year if he wants out. I wouldn't trade Gaff unless we get something close to overs for him and might as well risk losing him to FA. I think Gaff can even be convinced to stay as he has on numerous occasions said he loves Perth and the footy club. Gaff is a gun when fit and gets a ton of Flack from here but him and shuey along with NN are our midfield barometer.

I understand we need to strengthen our contested side of our game but i also value a balanced midfeild and losing Gaff would hurt cause we don't have quality outside players and Gaff when fit and in Form is one of the best wingmen in the comp.

Agreed a couple of inside midfielders and it changes the dynamics for gaff , he's been under pressure this year IMO one of afew midfield that could run

Someone mentioned Baker the other day, he didn't seem to do much in the GF but has some nice enough stats and seems to have more of a defensive side to his game than Liam Ryan.
I thought he was busy enough and pressured well. Must have had 20 odd touches.

Seriously?

We're not expecting any until after the trade period, as has been mentioned 124238401983 times. The only players who aren't contracted and haven't retired are Wellingham, Hill and Lamb. Their fate will be decided on after the trade period.

We have lost Priddis, Mitchell, Butler, Petrie, Giles and Brophy already

Didnt someone on here say hill has signed with Subi

Ah Chee seems to have some similarities to the Jarryd Lyons situation about 12 months ago, who was a big success for GC. This is definitely the type of deal we should be chasing.
Lyon had a break out season the year he got drafted. he averaged 22 touches, 4.7 tackles, 3.85 inside 50's, 4.15 clearances, 10.4 contested possessions and booted 13 goals. Thats some very good numbers for a fringe mid and you could have easily guessed that he would excel given more time on ball. Ah chee hasn't done that tho.

Rumours around the WAFL grounds were that he had signed with Subi mid season. I asked if they were getting confused with Hille from EP. :)

If we were to get Liam Baker instead of Liam Ryan this year I would seriously freak out. Ryan is right under our nose and could be anything (or nothing), I think Baker is already in fifth gear whereas Ryan has several to go. It would be like picking Jordan Jones instead of Michael Walters a few years ago.

Surely if we pick up Schofield as an assistant the chance of drafting Ryan goes up significantly

back 7 for the next 6-7 years .
Mcgovern barrass yeo Duggan nelson Cole and Rotham
We are set !

Problem is, as we saw this year, if thems playing up the field cannot keep the ball in or, it comes out too easily, the defenders have their work cut out trying to save a game.

IMO our back 6 defensive unit is as good as anyone's going around (I do have one blue eye and the other is yellow though) our problem is entirely in the front 2/3 of the field.

Personally, the acquisition of Ah chee is exciting getting Kane Lucas or Cale Morton.

5 years on a list and barely cemented his spot. Has a few nice attributes but the fact that he ain't a big ball winner is a bit concerning for an inside mid.

At best i see him as a big bodies defensive mid that can go replace Hutchings and is better suited to tag blokes like fyfe, bont and cripps.
If anything ah chee is more an offensive mid, spends a lot of time in the forward line which is an area we are going to need help in too.

Kills it in the sanfl on ball then gets bought into the power and played on the HFF .

He is also only 23 and was always going to be a project player needing development .

Gee, we're really going to work our magic then aren't we. For something different we could play him on the HFF to aid his development.

I was at the club Sunday and while the word was he was coming to west coast he mentioned committing to Subi again so still a bit up in the air , and while I love watching Ryan and he is an excitement machine his defensive game and chase reminds me of hill a bit but maybe he's young enough to change , he has struggled in both finals against Freo backline

I was keen on Ryan til I watched the WAFl GF - AFL pressure may not be his liking.

Tend to agree, however conditions were not conducive for a small forward.
Free hit to rookie him I reckon.
Probably wouldn't pick in national draft.

Acres just signed a two-year contract extension. First-rounder for Gaff or get farked Saints

Can't wait.

Redden mk2 but at least he won't cost us a first rounder this time (I hope)

We get Ah chee and Kelly we have two 24 year old inside mids who can rest forward.

Hope one is as successful as Barlow.:thumbsu:
