Yes, I don't see why people are so in awe of what they've done.
They've basically traded out of a super draft into next years unknown.

Those unknown picks are super high though.

They traded from 24 to 28 and added a pick that will be 19-25 next year.

That’s insanely good.

They’ve picked up what is at the very least a top 5 pick next year for what will likely be two teens picks

We traded picks 11,23,27 and more for pick 5 this year.

That’s if next year’s draft is good. Carlton is playing Gold Coast, Western Bulldogs and St Kilda twice after strengthening their list. I don’t think they will finish bottom four, whereas those three I reckon will.

As much as McGovern is a hack, he will be a foil to Curnow. Cripps now has support from Walsh and Stocker which is what he needs. And they’ve got Setterfield to help out in defence.

This is not a very deep draft at all.

There picks have been a bit meh. However their trading has definitely been brilliant. To now have a possible top 4 pick and have moved a 5th round pick to a 2nd round pick basically for free (a low Carlton based 2nd rounder as well) is a huge score.

I will laugh my arse off if Carlton finish above crows next year so they gave away pick 19 for a first round downgrade.

Pick 5 next year is obviously crap compared to Stocker according to Carlton. And maybe the Blues don’t think Adelaide is going to finish that much higher than them. Would you trade 5 for 10 if you were getting another first rounder in a better draft? I would.

Academy and FS picks are complete bullshit.

There were 23 first round picks and 20 2nd round picks. Because of that there are only 11 3rd round picks.

In Hindsight for Pick 6 our deal wasn't so bad. (Ignoring the negligible 3rd round swap we did with Freo)

But how do these young teams improve?

They aren’t going to climb to finals. If they improve it will maybe be a cpl of extra wins and a bit more competitive in games.

Wow, first bid that wasn't matched that I've seen. Hawthorn basically saying the Bombers are crazy to bid so early.

Could have matched with 49 and 91. Hawks board were heavily into him before the draft but aren't melting like ours did, most saying they have faith in their recruiters.
