2018 AFLW Season - offseason moves

She did deserve to get rubbed out for a game. Not her first offence like this, this season.
As for the legal representation..that is just embarrassing for a team with lawyers at the top.
The dogs have won without her most of the year, and the crowd will be behind them.
Best of luck to both....and the umps.

Reckon you might be surprised by the level of crowd support the Lions get on the day. It will be far from one-sided.

The punishments in the women's game are ridiculously disproportionate. They play only 7 games. They need to scale in fines, and more flexible options .Hooley Dooley, bloody Rabada got his penalty overturned !I think the doggies will still be feeling the effects of last week's physical, close encounter, and while we have played Prin ce's Park twice recently, and it seems to suit us, they have not played there.

All this talk of logistics and buses and missing first qtrs etc. Nobody is addressing the elephant in the room, which simply is this:

Who, from the guys attending, is doing the "Richmond" topless shot with the premiership cup?

Carlton AFLW Captain Brianna Davey wants out of the club

In a sensational move that is set to send rival clubs scrambling, Davey is set to inform the Blues she wishes to play for another AFLW team in 2019.

Foxfooty.com.au understands North Melbourne and Collingwood are the front runners to secure her services.

The exodus may not stop with Davey either.

It’s believed several other players are considering their options, while multiple assistant coaches are under pressure.

"Culture..No more Keeping.."
CARLTON and coach Damien Keeping have parted "by mutual agreement" as part of an ongoing review into the club's AFLW program.

The Blues finished the second NAB AFL Women's season on the bottom of the ladder with a 2-5 record, with Keeping saying the time was right to step aside.

Wants to avoid the poison that is Harris.

I agree. I think the single game is fair enough because there needs to be a baseline, but two games is equivalent to almost five games off next year (assuming they stick with "all play all" for fixturing). Same with a shift to fines though - some of these girls are getting only $10k a season. To compare to the men's rates (%age of minimum salary), the fines would have to be about $100-200.

Yarra City Council: Flying high at #Fitzroy Town Hall is the @lionsaflw flag. In 1996, the former Fitzroy Lions and Brisbane Bears teams merged to become the @brisbanelions. We're proud to be backing the team in the #AFLW grand final this Saturday. Go Lions!

Yarra have copped quite a bit of criticism of late with the Australia day stuff and other issues, but this gets a big tick.

Gutted I won't be able to get to the game (or the men's game). Will have to make do with sneaking looks at the score unfortunately.

Is it facetious to suggest Brennan's suspension shows how far the women's game still has to go? They always find a way to get a similarly profiled men's player to play, don't they? ;)

Maybe this is a glimpse of the new order in AFL tribunal...

Saw somewhere that Brennan would have escaped with a fine in the men's game, but due to the massive pay disparity, this could not happen, so she was suspended.

I don't know if that's strictly true. She got suspended because she had two misdemeanours, whereas in the men's comp it takes three. Arguably it's less stricter than the men's (2 strikes for 7 games versus 3 for 22).
