In Ross's interview on Channel 7 he said Bennell was about 3 or 4 weeks away from playing
He also said he was running well and he looks forward to having Harley contribute for the YEARS to come! Lock him away now and then focus on the other spuds like Cerra and co.

Yeah I couldn't believe that comment when I heard it. Years to come, seriously? He's got a lot to do to earn a new contract. However, if they offer him a new deal on really low money it could be a good investment.

So this Logue injury... Anyone out there know much about these things?

they are one of those things that can flare up once or twice in a lifetime and never be a problem again. Only in the case of a professional sports person would you look at surgery unless there is server ongoing pain. This isn't that so it is more a management call around time out of the game etc. The decision in this instance is difficult as the surgery will help and there should be no ramifications, but it is almost a season ender. On the other hand he could have another flare up in 3 weeks and need 4 weeks to recover and at that point it isn't a season ender but management is difficult. I would imagine that he wouldn't have the surgery and it wouldn't be surprising if we didn't hear about it again.

The worse case scenario is that it gets severe and he has surgery and we have the 12 week recovery. That decision wouldn't be made for another 2 weeks or so I wouldn't have thought. Overall not a long-term worry.

Have you read any of the other threads. People get worried about kids missing one or two games of footy and being sent back to Peel. Stifled development. Kid will never improve. Club doesn’t know how to rebuild. Imagine one of our top kids missing 12 or so weeks! Toys out of cott. Restart the entire rebuild. We’re screwed!!!

Gold - Logue will be fine and long term will be an absolute athletic beast. Personally very pleased we picked him up.

Interesting mate, do you know exactly what the congenital condition he has is as I've not been able to find that info anywhere? It sounds similar to an issue my son had with his knees that eventually needed surgery hence my interest.

I do know a bit but can't go into that. Having said that the nature of almost all congenital conditions (being from birth or inherited) is that in the normal course of life (AFL is not normal) they may flare and settle and not be an issue. I would be surprised if it wasn't extreme or worsening that your son wasn't given other exercises and monitored over a period of time.
