Yeh I agree, I didn't like the way ross spoke about it. Theres clearly more to it.
Code for: the player's who've worked their asses off all preseason are pissed that he might get a free ride into Rnd 1?

Def not. There’s an underlying issue that when Harley does extensive training his calf goes. They need to keep looking for a long term solution.

Guess we should put in here that Giro hurt his knee in the Peel scratch match yesterday, for anyone that hasn't read the Peel thread. It was reported it may be a medial and not an ACL, but it won't be known until scans & things are done. No word from Freo on it yet.

The photo really didn't look good. Classic ACL scenario. Bloody hope not.

Confirmed by club......

Fremantle rookie Stefan Giro will miss the next four to six weeks after injuring his right knee playing in Peel’s WAFL practice match against Subiaco on Saturday.

Read how Freo's young players fared for Peel on Saturday

“Stefan had scans yesterday, with the subsequent report confirming a grade two strain in the medial ligament in his right knee,” general manager of football operations Chris Bond said.

“Fortunately, Stefan does not require surgery but our medical advice is that the rehabilitation phase will be between four to six weeks.”

Looks like the injury list has dropped.

From Travis King: Blow for Lee Spurr trying to hold onto a @freodockers backline spot, he'll miss 4-6 weeks with a knee injury. Bradley Hill (quad) a test for Port clash, Stephen one week away. Still no timeframe on Bennell's return from his latest calf setback. Logue/Apeness tests this week.

Giro also out obviously.

Never good when a player gets injured. Has been a leader in our back half and although he hasn't been in great form the last year or so, he has played a role.

Hope he recovers quickly.

Agreed, distasteful comment.

What's our starting backline going to look like now?

Something like:
Ryan Hamling MJ
Wilson Pearce Blakely/Sutty

i guess? With Logue and Hughes still to come in for MJ and Blakely (to be released elsewhere/rotated thru) respectively

Sorry, but that is good, i was worried about Spurr down back against Port. Logue in for Spurr

Don't think they'll rush Logue back. He isn't a like for like replacement either. It'll be Sutcliffe since he played JTL. I'd prefer Hughes but think he is still working his way back into form/fitness.

Im not a massive basher of Spurr, but he has lost his mojo last 2 years. His kicks from defence are a raffle, and against Port at Adelaide Oval with their forward line, his kicks would be suicidal. Sutcliffe doesn't help my apprehension.
Spurr has been a great soldier, but his deficiencies are becoming very obvious.

Bad news for Spurr as i feel he will more than likely struggle t get back in to the side once coming back from injury. I'm hoping that we bring in a younger player over the period Spurr is injured, not necessarily round 1. It would be great to see Nyhuis, Duman, Logue etc. to come in for a few games. AS mentioned previously i think once Spurr is over his injury he will struggle to get back n the team with all the younger guys pushing their cases and also Spurr isnt the type of player that will go back to Peel and dominate he will just play his role.

Bradley Hill Quad Test
Michael Apeness Adductor Test
Griffin Logue Foot Test
Stephen Hill Calf 1 week
Lee Spurr Knee 4-6 weeks
Stefan Giro Knee 4-6 weeks
Harley Bennell Calf TBA

Absolutely devastated for my buddy!! Was hoping Spurr would return to his warrior days for one last season. Unfortunately I think by the time he's ready to come back the pecking order may have gone past him :(

Nyhuis would be my like4like replacement.

Logue in for spurr cmon guys where's the faith he's a pick 8 remember we already know he can run already. He looked good in aflx too
