Content with the trade, but not ecstatic. In points value, EFC came out on top, but the deal does give us a vital pick in the first round now, so close to a win-win.
Keen to see what we do now. Suspect an upgrade to 5 for Wilson may be on the cards, which would ensure that we get someone we want, whereas at 11 good chance that who we want is gone - depending on who we want. However, Freo won't be keen to move down. Hope we don't give away too much value to entice them, though (if that is what we do). Reasonable value would be the swap (only worth about 500 points in itself) plus one of Freo's picks in the 50s or at least a pick swap. That would enable us to have first and second round picks, then match on two academy boys (even if some deficit occurs). Fifth replacement on main list would be DFA or rookie upgrade. (I expect a Shipley bid in 30s or 40s.)
The other option is to just accept a future Freo second round pick plus something this year (similar to preceding comments) and then a Blues' future second round pick for Kennedy.
We were pragmatic in the Smith trade, but might push a little harder on Wilson since he is contracted.
Both sides seemed to get something out of the deal that they wanted. We got a good players that will strengthen out side plus some 2nd round picks to potentialluy use for other trades.
You have a higher round 1 pick that seems to suit your needs, I think GWS have had a habbit of offering good trades that are a win win for both sides.
I suspect we gave WB first option on !! with some swapping of other picks they refused to moved onto the next in the queue and deal done.
