So my predicted 2 teams:

Just missing Harry Himmelberg.

Your first grade team could be spot on - the only questions for me would be the ruck situation & defence. Whether we just take Lobb + Jezza/General, or also include HH, who I think is perceived to be quite mobile but could backup ruck. In this case can we afford to include both Hopper & Griffen, or just one. And in defence, don't mid the thought of Whitfield dropping back into Willo's spot - less burst speed and kicking length, but more accountable. Otherwise might we drop Setterfield back into that HBF spot?

Bit too hard to work out the draft options until end of trade with Wilson & Kennedy possibly adding picks or rolling into 2018.

Ricky Nixon claiming we are after Goldstein. Goldstein has a kid down here and a complex social situation, he also has completely shot knees which have made him a redundant ruckman. Hoping this one is fiction...if we must get a ruck go for Preuss or Hickey.

Yes, I agree. Just backwards thinking to grab Goldstein - not only would he use precious picks, but he takes TPP $ (even with NM chipping in), but he was cooked last year and I reckon takes our game backwards. I reckon we need to put our trust in Lobb & Simpson, otherwise why did we just extend Dawson?

Looking at the Wilson & Kennedy trade situations - Freo & Carlton really trying to underpay there, and the reported St Kilda offer for Tommo is an absolute joke. I'm a bit worried, though, after our trading team's performance last year - put down to the circumstances - and they need to trade smartly and effectively this year.

Any others that I may have missed from the academy? I had a brief read of the academy thread and the only other name that came up was Highmore and if the club would look to add a couple of rookies from the academy

No, you've got them. I reckon Shipley's a sure thing - first western Sydney grad, and I reckon we let Kennedy go because we had Shipley coming through: he tackles hard, gets the ball but has a bit more speed than Bam Bam. I would hope we grab Powell as well, neat player can play on the ball or forward.

Nathan Richards only a chance to get picked up, more likely as a rookie, but now probably depends on Mummy's situation. Brendan Myers also just a roughie, but we'll have 2 or 3 rookie spots available, so he could get a go as a running defender or outside mid. I don't think Tom Highmore would be in the mix any longer.

GM of Norths Cam Joyce saying on trade radio that no clubs have shown any interest in any of their rucks.

So would say it's like we have always said we have no interest in Goldstein, and its all about Lobb being our number one ruck next year

Ricky Nixon needs to stop doing copious amounts of Billy Noke and smacking his new missus' around.

Craig Cameron said very early on SEN that if the Mummy medical came back and he was unable to play that we would be happy moving forward with Lobb and Simpson with Flynn developing nicely and HH and JP as chop outs. We might then look at drafting and developing a ruck - but whatever happens with Mummy, we will NOT be trading for an established (or even unestablished) ruck.

In 2017 we went in with 4 rucks. I get that Tigers won a premiership with a previously unproven ruck in Nankervis but I'm surprised others aren't worried about our ruck stocks without Mumford.Whats Lobb had maybe 5 games total as our number one ruck?Simpson has played a total of 30 games in ten years because of injury and Flynn is yet to play.Surely questions over these players durability should lead to us at least drafting a mature bodied ruck.

Rory has actually been progressively doing more of the ruck work since the start of 2016. It's really not right to ignore the experience he's gained in tandem with Mummy. Dawson had a great year and made the NEAFL team if the year. He's got a bit if time left you'd think and we recruited him on the basis he had no ongoing issues. I think form has been the problem prior to this year.

Tucks have to emerge from somewhere though. In regards to a mature body have you seen big daws rig? Has the size to do a rougher job than mummy. Also lobb has the athleticism to be our NN and his hands should develop the sort of soft taps that NN is known for. The time has come to start using lobb to his fullest

I am pretty firmly in this camp also

We'll probably rookie one as well...

Bam Bam enduring the wait while SOS plays his predictable poker game.
It appears Willo is suffering the same wait.
A Gibbs trade Carlton/ Crows in the last 10mins should flush out Kennedy with 5 mins to go; a Weller trade Freo/ GCS should unplug the Willo blockage.

That is a shit deal for us
Could still be anything at this stage. Other reports were saying 10 and 16 to Carlton for Gibbs (along with other picks changing hands) which doesn't fit with that.

Listening to Craig Cameron just then on trade radio sounds like Kennedy and Wilson will be done pretty early tomorrow, and we are still considering bringing a player in for a very late pick (so most likely Honeychurch). Also in the next two days there should be an official announcement on Mumford.
If we have a list spot, wouldn't Sam Gibson DFA be a better option? Assuming he wants to come etc. Seems he'd be a mentor in the NEAFL and depth.

I think recycled players on the senior list tend to be for needs rather than depth. Forward pressure is a need, Honeychurch fills that allegedly (I can't say I've watched him too closely) as did de Boer. Mzungu was more on the depth side, so he was also a rookie pick.

Fair enough
I haven't taken that much notice of Honeychurch. I'm doubtful if a guy cant get a run in a pretty poor forward line he's the man for the job though.
I guess De Boer couldn't get a run with Freo either and from the draft it was clear Leon thought he filled a need, and he did work.

I'm hoping that Perryman, cumming and Setterfield get a few more games with the departures of Wilson, Kennedy and smith out of the best 25. Cumming has all the attributes to be a Wilson clone with his leg speed
:cool:I like your thinking on this one. Will crack a bottle of rum for his debut.

It's potentially (just speaking hypothetically here) a case of different responsibilities. In the Bulldogs' forward line he'd probably have to make the play more often than not, whereas in ours he would have the freedom to be more reactive - head to the foot of the contest and apply pressure or collect the spilled ball, which might be simpler for him. Honestly I really don't know how he'll play out.

I'd be happier if we found a way to get Townsend back frankly. I do have faith in Leon and the club to make the right call though.
