The only fact I need to know is the Brown is going to be the runaway Coleman medal winner.

Therefore AA FF lock.

I am not against Hawkins being in the CHF or FP though.

Brown will get in because of the goal table, but he shouldn’t. Stats suggest Hawkins and franklin are the clear best two key forwards at this point of the season. Brown isn’t even close to them on most score involvements per game as brown is a long way behind on assists.

If roles/stats were reversed between Hawkins and Brown you would be arguing the other way.

If you are clearly leading the Coleman medal as a FF, you are in the AA team at FF. No arguments

So Hawkins hasnt been consistent all year?
He's been consistent for the vast majority of the season. Brown's first game wasn't too hot either mind you. I guess that means he hasn't been consistent all season either?
They've both had 3 games in which they've kicked 1 or less goals.

Lets just accept they are both horribly inconsistent footballers.

Breust is a scavenger

Dines out on easy teams

Not a match winner a finisher

Very over rated and to prove it check his contested ball, marks, contested mark

People don't realise he's hawthorns second forward now

So does he get in before
Darling or those others in contention?
He’s ranked number in the AFL in contested possessions, marks, contested marks, marks inside 50 and goals per game amongst small forwards. Do your research first.

As for not playing well against the top eight teams...

Round 1 vs Collingwood: 17 disposals - 4 tackles - 4 goals
Round 3 vs Richmond: 14 disposals - 3 goals
Round 4 vs Melbourne: 19 disposals - 9 tackles - 4 goals
Round 8 vs Sydney: 18 disposals - 6 marks - 6 tackles - 3 goals
Round 11 vs Port Adelaide: 12 disposals - 6 marks - 1 goal
Round 15 vs Western Sydney: 14 disposals - 7 marks - 6 tackles - 3 goals

That's not what stats posted earlier say
Those we're for key forwards only, which actually makes him look even better than just top two in the league in goals per game and score involvements per game.

You're reaching hard to deny Franklin, because he's a "boring, samey" pick, but he deserves to be in on merit this year.

He is in the top 2. Brown averaging .3 more goals a game but Hawkins averaging more then 0.5 goal assists per game. Put them together and Hawkins is better. Actually Hawkins is slightly better then franklin as well on the combined goals and goal assist stats.

If you just pick two key forwards it’s Hawkins and franklin right now.
As already posted, goals + assists: Brown has 65, Hawkins 59.
But my follow on question is, when did a goal assist become equally as important as a goal itself for a FF? Do we need to recount all the Coleman tallies to add in goal assists and see who actually won?
The primary role of a FF is to kick goals,
Brown is 10 goals clear on top of the Coleman leaderboard. He’s the AA FF mate.

Got a stat for goals from dubious free kicks or joe the gooses where his team mates AGAIN make him look super

Think he and gunston ( sure know how to milk em) bit like that rubbish dangerfield crap Saturday night

If you think he's a gun good on you
One dimensional player
You win games based on system

Fagans proved it twice

So now he’s a one dimensional player despite leading the league in most statistical categories amongst small forwards?

Your back pedaling and talking crap out of your arse. He averages a whopping 1 free kick per game in his entire career. Gunston would easily be Collingwood’s best half forward.

Hawkins started slowly, but over 18 rounds, he has played equally as well as the other top key forwards.
His best games have been against the Dees, Swans (x2), North, Crows, Giants, Eagles and Suns

Hogan's best games have been against the Lions, Saints (x2), Dogs (x2), North, Crows and Suns

The Champion Data points (best to worst) of the leading key forwards are shown below.
Statistically, there is nothing between them. The AA spots are up for grabs, in my opinion.

B Brown
167, 128, 120, 120, 116, 105, 97, 96, 87, 82, 80, 79, 65, 62, 61, 58, 21

J Riewoldt
135, 115, 114, 113, 101, 98, 96, 93, 88, 85, 80, 77, 77, 70, 65, 35, 3

J Hogan
145, 130, 127, 125, 123, 123, 114, 94, 91, 86, 81, 79, 72, 63, 59, 47, 36

T Hawkins
140, 127, 122, 113, 112, 108, 105, 99, 97, 95, 84, 77, 70, 57, 56

L Franklin
175, 127, 112, 109, 106, 105, 98, 94, 87, 73, 61, 60, 60, 48

J Darling

Um, you do know it's better to actually kick a goal than to have a score involvement, yeah?

Reiwoldts and Darlings lowest scores because both injured at the start of a game.

Yeah, I'm not really looking at those

Brown and Hogan have played the most games, but quite a few unproductive games. Which means the games missed through injury & suspension by the other key forwards are not as vital in the AA discussions. It kind of balances out.

If you focus on the high scores on the left hand side and scan across to see the number of games >100, >90, >80, they are all remarkably similar.

Hogan's Champion Data scores in these ranges probably look the best, but it's tempered when you look at the teams he scored those against (mostly one-sided thrashings vs struggling teams.)

The key forwards who go nuts over the last 5 rounds will probably get the nod from the AA selectors. It's pretty wide open. Brown and Riewoldt are the front-runners for FF and CHF. But if Franklin, Hawkins, Hogan and Darling have a huge month, then they will be hard to leave out.
