True, but they force a trade.

Do they want pick 3 or a more than likely a high 1st rounder and a good player.

Yep you’d rather a player going there willingly rather than 2 draftees that have been forced to go there

They can't afford to match the offers he's likely to get.

Will cripple their list management strategy

What is their list management strategy?

With players like May/Swallow becoming RFA’s next year they have to match the bid for Lynch. They need to show players and player managers that they’re not going to let players walk without a fight.

I'd really like to know how either of the two clubs could afford Lynch. Hawthorn you'd think would be in a more realistic cap space.

Please bring in a 3rd party auditor. Non AFL that is. It was dodgy last year with Dusty and even more so now.

Provided they don't lose anything from it. Smells very fishy and of 3rd party involvement.

Lol. It's cute that people are acting like GWS have a salary cap. Their salary cap is similiar to chelsea's. The AFL is as corrupt as FIFA and the salary cap system has the same legitimacy as 'financial fair play'. The only shocking thing is that they didn't sign lebron for their ambassador program.
Agree with every word GG.

After what Tigers legitimately, totally legally, inside the salary cap, not sourced from other companies, gave to Dusty, they shouldn't be able to offer up what they supposedly are for Lynch.

Nike totally wasn't a factor in Martin staying.

Definitely.

Please, 3rd party. Who will put pressure on them to do so? The AFL media are spineless and cower at the thought of gill raising his voice at them.

Richmond bring with it the largest supporter base now. Guaranteed money for the AFL from multiple different avenues. Therefore it's in the AFL's best interest to keep collingwood and richmond towards the top. If lynch gets to either they won't think nothing of it.

"But we are getting hampson off the books and player x is leaving so now we have 1.2 million"

Balony. Same dribble i heard when richmond were asked to up their dusty offer. External funding was needed and external funding will come in again for lynch. If lynch chose North you better believe the AFL would employee the ATO to go through everything from the salary cap right down to the coffee cart receipts. If they found nothing they'd change a rule of give lynch part ownership of the GCS.

It's rotten i tells ya.

Petrol bombs and barricades
Anything to have our say
Consequence of no choice at all
Empires rise and empires fall
It's time to flip some coins and
It's time to turn some tables
Cause if we have the vision I know that we are able
Suck on my words for a while and
Choke on the truth of a million dead
Gil there is no prestige in your title
We are after your head
The destruction of everything
Is the creation of something new
Your new world order is on fire
And soon you'll be too
Sabotage will set us free
Throw a rock in the machine

Snake, King Corey and myself are marching down to AFL headquarters right now to set this straight. Whose coming with us?

I don't think it's as straight forward. Think it's high unusual for the Pies to fly so close to the wind on what are essentially the rules of approaching in contract players.

Cannot remember a club being so brazen commenting and actively admitting to meeting a player. Even last year we acknowledged we wanted a move, but wasn't openly admitting the play by play.

Putting my tin foil hat on - I don't think he's going to Collingwood. I think Pies fans have been conditioned for a while, starting with Cameron or Patton, that the big key forward fish is coming.

Collingwood's only PR show is to say they went hard but couldn't convince him. I think he's going to Richmond.

Knew it. Something felt off. (If true)

I'm a bit far to march :)

Well I wouldn't go that far, but it's hard to know how much you're exaggerating. But it's definitely questionable and it's not in the AFL's best interest to question any of it if its not made a big deal of. GC will be a basketcase with or without him and they'll probably get pick #3 for compensation. So effectively with Pies/Lol getting Lynch and strengthening them, it also puts everyone down a peg in the draft. Which effects clubs who aren't into academies and father/son.

Anyway if they don't lose significant players.....it sounds very fishy. Emphasize 'players'.

Scale works against the likes of Gold Coast with these cases. Hypothetically, Lynch getting 800k at Richmond is arguably more attractive than $1.2m at the Suns. The difference after tax is $200k and he's not exactly below the poverty line.

Suns should be looking for guys being paid in the 300k-400k range. Could probably get them with say 550k and regular first-team football.

Hrovat for pick 2

Lynch will essentially become the Kevin Durant of the AFL: a player who bailed on responsibility and a chance to build and lead his own team in favour of a cheap shot a flag. He could’ve gone anywhere else and maintained some respect. Now he’s just a Tugger.
