Reckon kemp will be a superstar

Robertson a Brad crouch type.

Both guns sbdcwe could’ve had both.

I think Stephens’ ceiling is quite low. At best a redden from West Coast. Very meh.

Wells did great last 2 years. We were all happy last couple of drafts. We were all pissed off with Lang, thurlow and brown.

Lots of posters at the time of the Lang/thurlow/Brown drafts just played the inwellswetrust card... but we were proven right and this draft feels like another muffed one.

Very disappointing. I feel we don’t have a single mid under Duncan’s age that has A grade potential.

I’m not saying you’ll be wrong but how can you judge Stephens on 2 games in his U18 year?

Agree on every point. Should've/Could've been the draft that sets us up for a decade, just not going to happen Imo. Stephens will end up a Redden/Menegola type. Solid, gets a bit of the ball but nothing special and not a game changer, pretty much the opposite of what we need. All our young mids are B-Grade and we've just added another Imo, really hope to be proven wrong. And for anyone who says this is melting, it's not. I rate Stephens, I think he'll make it due to his work ethic and he seems like a great kid. I just don't see anything special about him and therefore see his ceiling as a B-Grade player.

I reckon having taken Stephens as an inside mid Wells will look now to other areas of need. Outside speed. I’d still take Robertson if available (reckon Bris will snap him up though) but I’d have a good look at Sharp now.

Gould, Taheny or D.Williams with 36.

Maybe..im a big believer in you take quality though and dev is that. Gould has to be 26 if adel dont take him, he wont get to 38. The last 2 you mentioned might.

Wells attempted to do a trade deal in order to get within the top 10 but there were no takers.

Flanders was 11. Maybe carlton knockedback 17and 24 and we didnt want to offer 14 and 17 as they got 15 and 20.

Wells did say he would look for Taylor and Hawkins replacements if possible.

De Koning - Taylor
Jones or Riccardi or ??? - Hawkins

I still think he will pick a running player (Sharp or Bianco) with 1 pick and a young key forward with another.

He also said he didnt think hed get a kpf of quality in this draft.

Dunno mate on that one. We might really need another good draft haul next year with more than one first round pick. I'd leave it for now.

We should get a good player with Pick 26, but you just never know with Wells. He seems to like to reach.
Wouldn't get my hopes up for next year. Reportedly fairly thin even before we bring up the academies

Basing my opinion on all available public info. He lacks star power, poor overhead, no damage or hurt factor. A pure extractor just like Constable. Hardly kicks it inside 50 or many goals. That’s ok for a 4th string mid you could pull out of the vfl but I expect more for a R1 pick. A pick we got for Kelly who has all those things which I called out when Kelly was drafted.

Cooper looks ok, but for a first round ..meh.

I think kemp has the tools to be a A+. His movement in traffic, lifting in the big moments abd at 192cm who is elite overhead, sub 3 sec 20m that has elite skills and can play anywhere. I know who I’d choose

Seems from Wells comments De Koning is a fair way off playing ones.

"
Wells has played suggestions De Koning is a natural replacement for Harry Taylor, who is expected to retire at the end of the 2020 season.

“I can understand why you ask that question, given that Sam was an All-Australian fullback this year,” he said.

“But, Harry’s been a champion of our club and (they are) big shoes to fill.

“We’re just hoping Sam can develop over the next few years.

“His opportunities aren’t going to be restricted to (being a) tall defender, though. He’s done well as a forward and also as a potential ruckman.

“As a big young man, he’s got lots of opportunity to develop all over the ground.”

Didn't he ave 26 disposals in 2 games before going down in the 3rd?
I think Wells is very impressed by his attitude to focus on and succeed at the draft combine after injury.
Admirable but not a sole reason for making him a 1st pick choice imo, Gould played senior footy all season, culminating in a Premiership and played well every week, but no cigar.
Guess it's how you look at each on their particular merits.

Hurts coz kemp went the next pick

Agree. Sharp should be available at 26

Gould won't be there at 26 much less 38 I'd think. I'd think either Dylan Williams or Cam Taheny would be a good bet

Anyone know what C Stephens ran on the 20m sprint?

C Stephens at best is a David Mundy, or probably most likely a Sam Mengola type - but Menegola looks like he has better depth on his kicking and better overhead marking. Have to wait and see.

I like Cooper Stephens and am very glad we have got him.
I just think Kemp, Danger, Duncan, Cockatoo, Parfitt, Narkle looks a more impressive midfield for the next few years
Would have been happier had we chosen Kemp and then Stephens to avoid him going to Richmond

My god the negativity on someone who has been a cat for only a few hrs is interesting to say the least how about we give him a chance before we claim B grade player ...

Name one thing that's special about him then, prove us wrong. Every A-Grade superstar has at least one (Preferably multiple) category(s) where they're absolutely elite. Whether that be Dangerfield's pace and Overhead marking and his acceleration from a contest, or Fyfe's overhead marking and giant leap. Even a guy like Joel, who's not the most blessed athletically, just has a burning desire to get to the footy first which is almost unrivalled by his peers. I don't see Stephens stand out attribute, hence why I'd put him in the B-Grade category. As stated above, that's all well and good for your 3rd or 4th string midfielder, but we're trying to replace all time greats of the game here in Joel and Danger, not 4th string midfielders. We need special and lots of it.

Some blokes on the Crows board are thinking 24+25 will be Harrison Jones and Mitch O'Neill....

Looks like more slidders.

I'd be very surprised if Port didn't pick one of Gould or Worrell.

I'm in this camp as well. No standout attribute, perhaps endurance. His contested work would be above average, but I wouldn't say its dominant.
