Anyone listening to TR? According to Del we told Bruce at his exit meeting that he should look elsewhere to extend his career as we didn't plan on offering him another contract in 12 months time
I seriously doubt that

I think it’s funny how everyone thinks we just started speaking to Gold Coast. Like we haven’t had discussions for months.

I still think king will be a saint in 2021. Your only hope is if Adelaide implode and the suns need picks.

If Crouch decides he wants to go to Gold Coast on a long term lucrative deal, and announces this publicly, then circumstances change. Crows would probably look to do a deal.

Crows will demand one of the first two draft picks which the Suns won’t agree to. They will then demand Lukosius which the Suns are unlikely to agree to.

Another early 1st RDP pick may be required for a circuit breaker (but that may complicate other trades).

Agree, we have not drafted midfielders with high picks for such a long time, annoys the s**t out of me, but its OK, we can rely on the "needs to be rebuilt" Hanners and Carlisle who we pay way overs for with a walking stick.... remember that, he had a walking stick not long before we drafted him.... the clubs simply trying to pick 'past' players that are clearly past their best and are paying way overs.... :/

I'd rather we go down the youth path, and just get a bunch of 18-23 yr olds so that in 3-4 years time, we might have a decent group of young talent. Ryder at his age is short term...

Every time you trade, you end up having to pay the player more than you would for a home grown talent, and cough up too much for it in trade.
A 25 year old lasts half as long as a good drafted player.

With the salary cap and picks available its not possible to BUILD a list on trades.

In a few years we will end up with a team of elderly GOP's and our cap maxed out and no draft picks in the draft ( all traded the year before).
Bring on 2012 all over again. Only this time instead of making a couple of grand finals, we'll reach the lofty heights of an elimination final.

Barrett says Saints are open to a future without Jack Steven(s) and will need to 'get their head around' paying some of his contract because Geelong can't afford it.
Oh PLEASE can we sell our best player to Geelong and pay his wage for a 3rd round pick??

We can just trade all our best players to Geelong for late picks and pay their salary's. Will they let us barrack for them in their grand final.

The same media reported Papley was offered a deal for 800/900k and then the truth came out a week later.

Anyway, if you want some news. Ask yourself whether or Smith from the Hawks would be worthwhile on a 3 year deal.
31 before the start of next season and he dropped off a fair bit this year , i think his best is well past him , Ryder is enough we dont need another 30 plus recruit

It would be cheaper to keep him and hire a helicopter .
Rather him play 2-3 games per year in our jumper than watch him dominate for Geel knowing we are still paying his wage ...... outrageous !

Peeps should relax about what comes from any Stuv trade.
He's a high salary, contracted player, going to a club with cap space issues and a bunch of 1st and 2nd round picks.

It's just not possible thet we screwed on this trade, our position is so overwhelmingly strong that you'd have to deliberately eff it up in order to lose.
But the club's thinking won't be about pick numbers, they are rather looking to achieve goals with trading in new personal, and if they can achieve what they want with a crummy pick for Jack then its all the same to them.

Peter Bell said Freo are empathetic to Brad Hill’s personal circumstances, but he is contracted and the onus is on St Kilda to negotiate a “satisfactory deal”. He expects Saints offer will reflect the large contract offered to him.

Surely if Steven wants out he either accepts a lower salary at Cats. If so we get a lowish pick.
If he wants the coin he either stays at Saints or we pay part of his salary (no issue) and Cats make up the difference..much earlier pick in the 20s or a player acceptable to Saints.

Jack cannot have his cake and Cats eat it on his behalf.

Steven for pick 54. According to trade radio. I feel like we just got sent to the cleaners.

Reading Hawks boards in the past they think he is close to done.

Isaac? Yep. Lock that one in.

Leader, elite kick, quick, makes us a better side.

What do they want in return? Brandon White?
This is not directed at you mate but why do a fair few on here think that when we get players from other clubs they are leaders , Ryder isn't a leader with his assault history , Hanners isnt either as he always seems to have a sniffle , just because they have played at other clubs it doesnt make them a leader

I’m happy with that....as long as the Bulldogs’ offer reflects the large money / contract they are offering us for a contracted player too.

Because both Hanners and Smith have been part of leadership groups at successful clubs?

Why would you have guys in leadership roles if you didn't think they were leaders?

Sounds like we've managed to fu** up this Bruce trade a little. You would think the best way to go would be to shop him around and see if we can get a decent pick for him instead of telling him to look for another club as we won't extend his contract.

Can see how why the media are suggesting pick 30.

Or we can just keep him for another year.

I was under the impression Dogs had offered Bruce that deal and when Bruce went to the club with that deal to try and extend his own deal, the club said they weren't willing to extend him this year and would need to wait until next year before we are willing to start discussions rather than us saying he won't be offered a new contract at all.
