I reckon you grab key defenders and ruckmen later in drafts (and ruckmen later in their careers) but so be it if he is the best left.

Looking less likely any of McDonald, Hollands or Thilthorpe will make it to us unless we slip a draft spot, which is a shame. They strike as the guys most likely to be lynchpin type players as opposed to cogs in the machine. Think our best bet is clubs overlooking Hollands given his injury history. Not uncommon with the earliest picks.

Interesting that he has Downie at 25. We'd want to get 2 picks in before a bid.

Yes I agree we are unlikely to get Mac Donald, Thilthorpe or Hollands.
I'd choose Denver Grainger-Barrass with our first pick

DGB doesn’t really interest me at all.

key defenders are easier to find as plug players and I have concerns over how he will go on the Kings and those lengthy athletic players long term.

Agree. We won’t get these top 3 kids now.
Long long way out still, plenty can and will change.

this time last year Jackson was a mid first rounder and Gould was a potential top 10 pick.

bit different this year with lack of games but the top 3 currently aren’t even a clear top 3. Plenty of water to go under the bridge.

I find this an odd comments. He is 195cm and ver athletic. If he isn't able to go with the Kings, who is?

Played on Elijah Hollands at the Champs and took a bunch of intercept marks. That is impressive ability.

He is giving up 7 cm on the Kings and they have a huge wingspan, i don't know that he can go with them in the air.

Probably get my head bitten off, but O’driscoll looks slow and cumbersome to me.

I want speed, dynamic movement and flair in a top 5 midfielder.
He is not quick, but is tough as nails and big bodied. Cripps is not quick aswell, neither is Fyfe. But are the best big bodied mids in the comp. Give me that over speed. We lack hardness in the middle. Already playing against men aswell, and is not fazed. Hollands is dynamic, but will see how dynamic after a knee reco.

O’Driscoll does under 3 seconds for 20m. That’s not slow by any means, compare that too someone like Finlay Macrae who is past 3.10 seconds. His speed rates above average for this years draft class

Where do you have him mate? Top 10?
I have him at 5. I really like him, I don’t think he will end up the best player from the draft but he is still the type of kid I’d want at my club. A hard worker and good athlete to boot, a good country lad willing to put in the work required to have a successful AFL career.

Well he has elite leap which will help. There just aren’t really any defenders who will go with the kings. You have to stop their run and being agile will help that greatly.

Ruckman break 3 seconds all the time. That test doesn’t really measure speed.

Yeah I think your midfield needs a bigger body.
Ours lacks class. Im hoping for Hollands or Phillips/ Bruhn.

In that case I think both Phillips and Bruhn would be available at our first pick.
Which on would you choose?
I'd tend to go fro Bruhn but I'm not sure.
Interested in your opinion.

Well I have to know what the opposition is thinking. I mean, if the Germans just announced their plans on a message board in 1939 then it would have made WW2 much easier to win :p

Is there any guarantee that Adelaide and North Melbourne will even place bids on Ugle-Hagen or Campbell? It’s almost pointless seeing as the Bulldogs and Sydney will match bids anyway.

If Sydney can kindly win 2 more games this year that’ll be great.

Phillips isn't really a class player by foot where as Bruhn has that reputation.

If you watch this video of Phillips he tends together out of congestion by pumping his legs hard and ridding the bumps. Sometimes he gets out and sometimes he crashes into the tackler and just dumps the ball out.

Where as Bruhn is able to create time and space for himself with the way he moves.

Granted the video of Phillips is every involvement where a the video of Bruhn is just highlights but even in Phillips highlight video on the afl.com article, the same approach is visible with no examples of being able to create time and space through movement.

So for me, I'd go Bruhn on AFL potential.

Well Ugle-Hagen is the best Kidd in the draft some one of them will bid. Less certain on Campbell.

You'd think someone would have to bid on them before their respective club's picks otherwise they basically get 2 for the price of one. Honestly I can see a bid coming in for Campbell first purely because Sydney have a pick before the dogs.

If this could be considered accurate, then based on the ladder as it currently stands and a priority pick for Adelaide I'd expect to see...

1. Jamarra Ugle-Hagan (matched by WBD)
2. Logan McDonald (ADL priority pick)
3. Riley Thilthorpe (ADL)
4. Denver Grainger-Barras (NM)
5. Elijah Hollands (SYD)
6. Braeden Campbell (matched by SYD)
7. Tanner Bruhn (HAW)

Without an Adelaide priority pick...

1. Jamarra Ugle-Hagan (matched by WBD)
2. Riley Thilthorpe (ADL)
3. Logan McDonald (NM)
4. Denver Grainger-Barras (SYD)
5. Braeden Campbell (matched by SYD)
6. Elijah Hollands (HAW)

Without an Adelaide priority pick AND North bid on Campbell...

1. Jamarra Ugle-Hagan (matched by WBD)
2. Riley Thilthorpe (ADL)
3. Braeden Campbell (matched by SYD)
4. Logan McDonald (NM)
5. Elijah Hollands (HAW)

Basically I don't think the top key forwards we'd like are going to be available regardless. But wouldn't put it passed us picking up a KPD and trying to turn them into a KPF. But if the best we can hope for is Hollands then I'd be satisfied I think.

Maybe we try trading with North to get to McDonald? But I think they'd be keen to nab him.

Pray to whatever we hold dear that North are looking for some cheap revenge after Sydney stole Blakey.

100% certainty (based on draft order as it stands) that a bid will come for JUH within the top 3. It's no secret that the Bulldogs will match any bid. Adelaide should bid at pick 1 if they have even half a brain.

Campbell will 100% be matched if the bid comes after Sydney's first pick. It is far less certain if it came before. It would require knowing if there's a player Sydney rated higher than Campbell (very likely there is if Campbell is really about the 8th best available), knowing if that player is still available when the bid comes (pretty good chance they would be given there's currently only 2 teams ahead of them), and finally if Sydney would be willing to forego a talented NSW product to secure that more highly rated prospect that may be more of a flight risk in the future.

North would have to be the one to bid and I don't really see them risking their chance to draft an elite KPF just to make sure Sydney don't get a double dip in the following picks. Which (unless North trades for another high pick after Sydney's) is really providing the most benefit to the teams with picks after the Swans and not North Melbourne.
