Pulling a Victorian kid out of a Victorian club, when he has a brother playing in Melbourne also - that's pretty hard to do. He was pretty raw in his draft year, and arguably where the Cats took him was a bit early IMHO.Not going to be the end of the world GWS has a great list and HH,Finlayson &Riccardi are enough tall fowards with Greene also plays tall
If i am GWS list manager
top 10 pick + Sam Dekoning is what i would DEMAND
GWS weakest area is their defence and not going to get any better with Corr leaving, He would be the #1 player i would be looking to bring into the club not another mid. Regarding the vic comment atleast 50% of GWS would be Victorians and this is no different and who knows maybe go after his brother in a couple of yearsPulling a Victorian kid out of a Victorian club, when he has a brother playing in Melbourne also - that's pretty hard to do. We can ask, we can demand, but ultimately we cannot force any player to move if he doesn't want to.
If we do lose Caldwell too and have 4-5 picks before about 25, that's a lot of youth brought in at once, so understandably getting 1 or 2 with any sort of experience is a bonus, so it's the right idea IMV. But as Port showed, youth can rejuvenate the list and push it upwards to better results if given a chance.

Risky business: Giant’s hardball stance could result in Cameron walking for free

"With the ?th pick in the draft, North Melbourne's war chest selects Jeremy CameronNo risk, Cameron wouldn’t last past pick 1 and I doubt he will want to go to a bottom club.

just got a message from an old friend:
Feel free to post a screen shot of this to the 2020 Draft, Academy, Trade Thread;
Who the f*ck is giving air time to that Mr Magic plonker? I’ve seen some delusional sh*t on that board over the years, but he’s by far the worst.
Just kick the moron off the board already.
Yours Sincerely,

I hope that your club makes Geelong pay, just like the WCE had to for Kelly.
Exactly. So do we. Pick 9 is nowhere near enough, and Cats fans will agree when they remember what that demanded for Kelly.

Would be good get. Could be used as a key defender too.
Well this is now clearly untrue, if he had told the Giants he was going yesterday morning, it would definitely be announced by now. (he still may well go to the Saints, but the informed them yesterday thing is clearly false)So, Saints board ITK reckons that Caldwell has told GWS that's he's off to them - just wants to tell a few teammates first, before it's announced. I guess we'll see soon enough.
If so, it's better than heading to Essendon - that would be a shitfight and a half. First round pick, neat, thanks.
North get absolutely screwed on that. Higgins for 11 would be a good deal (only because of age), throw in having to pay all that extra salary though makes it very unattractive. Probably close enough to fair for us, freeing up cash prob makes it a good deal, very good deal for Geelong, Melbourne prob okish (depending on their salary cap position)Interesting scenario it creates if someone like McDonald might want to go to you guys on very high wages, and someone like Higgins wants to come to us, on high wages.
There could be a way here where essentially everyone wins.
First of all, I know I jumped the gun last time in regards to the GWS public meeting. I stand by I didn't like the optics as a whole (no matter who it was or what club). With that said, I was pretty over the top, so I want to apologize for that.
With that out of the way, here's my proposal:
Higgins on 600K
McDonald on supposedly 700-800K
Cameron being offered 750-850K
4 clubs in North, Cats, Giants and Melbourne get involved and help out each other with various benefits being incurred.
Net end result is -
North: give up Higgins & 1 MIL & receive our First Rounder - Pick 11 or 13 (they have so much cap that they might not even be able to meet the minimum - especially with Brown going)
Melbourne: Salary dump of McDonald, paying none of his contract, for our pick 33
Geelong: Give up pick 11 or 13, Pick 33, receive Cameron and Higgins
Giants: Give up Cameron, receive McDonald for nothing, and gain Pick 9 - effectively gaining a high pick, a replacement key swingman and 750K of cap space
*********************
Raw Trade Outline:
Geelong:
OUT: Pick 11 or 13, 33
IN: Cameron, Higgins
North
OUT: Higgins, 1 MIL-1.1 MIL
IN: Geelong Pick 11 or 13
Melbourne
OUT: McDonald and 700K+
IN: 700K freed up in salary cap, Geelong Pick 33
Giants
OUT: Cameron
IN: McDonald (salary paid) Pick 9 compo
***********
Satisfies a need for everyone, whilst Giants get a replacement player for no salary and utilizes the compo pick effectively
He be gone.
We have gone from zero first rounders to anything between 3 to 6
