So Riordan is a 20 year old inside mid with good leadership who did an ACL in Feb. who says we are interested in him?Tell me more about Mitch Riordan. Pick #2 in the 2019 mid-season. 21yo at the start of next year. 187cm 83kg. Zero games for the Suns. Why should I be interested in this?
NORTH MELBOURNE
What’s been done so far
As expected, the Kangaroos landed former GWS defender Aidan Corr as a restricted free agent, reportedly for five years and $2.75 million. They held off a late charge from the Hawks, and the deal delivered the Giants a second-round compensation pick.
What’s left to do
The Roos are in the unfortunate position where they need to trade out some of their best players, as they want to find new homes, but they have little leverage – and it means they’ll probably get unders for both. Shaun Higgins is almost certain to join Geelong and despite his quality, his age means a late second-round pick is the likely return. Likewise Ben Brown is expected to join Melbourne, with a second-round selection also the likely price for the goalkicker. There doesn’t seem to be any interest in Jared Polec, despite him being dropped during this past season, especially with the Roos uninterested in paying part of his salary to move him. Jed Anderson is yet to sign a new deal and a number of clubs are monitoring the situation though Carlton is not.
What draft picks they have to use
2, 11, 28, 63, 71, 81

Personally I think it’s a classic money ball scenario. Daniher is 100% valued on past potential. Cameron is more of a combo of both hype and exploits and Brown is undervalued due to a series of awkward and un-sexy traits.Off course he is. I did say that is only marginally better.
What shits me is Daniher fetches pick 7. GWS want 2 first rounders for Cameron which they'll probably get from Geelong. Brown ... 2nd rounder, if lucky.
And I do realise Cameron/Brown contract situations are slightly different.
We sacked Brown and told Higgins we would not stand in his way if he wanted to chase a flag. Our position is weak. Not sure why we let ourselves get so worked up about these type of speculative article. The club is not speaking to the media. You need to remind yourself of this every time one of these articles is released.
The Higgins example is a great one. Up until Friday Higgins was apparently being done for Cats Pick 38, no question. Until the media realised through speaking to Geelong that 38 is not getting it done. Now we know that Pick 20 upgrade is needed to get it done, which is a far better deal then just 38.
The media, like Higgins until a couple days ago, have nfi how North view Browns trade value. They are guessing with a perception that North players are worth f*** all.
Do people here really think that if Brady wants 20 & 38 for Higgins & 28, he is going to accept 26 for Brown? No chance.

My issue is, if you can throw a blanket over the 5, why are GC throwing everything at getting pick 2?Theoretically it sounds as though you can throw a blanket over DGB/McDonald/JUH/Hollands/Thrillhouse. If we trade 2 for 5, 27 and GC's 2021 first, we're still guaranteed one of the above at 5, and we pick up another first next year
I will still be angry if we do the deal though. I reserve that right
Our position isn't weak on Higgins, he's contracted. Geelong wants him and have been targeting him for at least two years.
It's weaker on Brown but only in the context he's not getting us near a first rounder.
This is probably the only trade I'd do for 2 unless its all 3 of Essendon's first rounders.Theoretically it sounds as though you can throw a blanket over DGB/McDonald/JUH/Hollands/Thrillhouse. No we aren't, because JUH is an academy player. So we'll miss all 5.Theoretically it sounds as though you can throw a blanket over DGB/McDonald/JUH/Hollands/Thrillhouse. If we trade 2 for 5, 27 and GC's 2021 first, we're still guaranteed one of the above at 5, and we pick up another first next year

An astute point. This is why we scream our thoughts into the void and don't get paid to make the big decisions

Possibly GC have more specific needs than us. Eg they want either DGB or McDonald. Or they have narrowed it down to any other two players. My issue is, if you can throw a blanket over the 5, why are GC throwing everything at getting pick 2?
Respect your opinion - what have I got wrong? BBB rejected an offer to negotiate a better one with no intention of going. As the season progressed and his form and injuries came into consideration we told him he doesn't suit our game plan and we would trade him. Higgins was told that if he wanted to leave and chase a flag we wouldn't stand in his way. BBB trade position is weak - Higgins marginally better.No.
We didn't.
