So dear readers, what does the glorious 12th of November portend? With Aiden Corr and Lachie Young tucked away, the best NMFC list management period in history would finish something like this:

1. the BBB trade gains picks capable of packaging

2. Picks left in the pocket: 2, 11 and 14 (the latter obviously obtained from Bulldogs, by assembling picks and providing them at a discount advantageous to their JUH situation, allowing them to keep whatever first rounders they get from * for Dunkley)

3. Stephenson for a second rounder (possibly next year, depending on 1. and 2.) The Pies situation is too good to miss - with cap space available, we can take on more salary and heavily discount any pick sent back.

4. Jed signs

Job farkin done.

Good effort Brady
The great thing about this M007 is that it all seems doable. Feels as though it’s our choice rather than us having to go hand out and begging. No more selling the farm, here’s the deal take it or leave it. Only a few weeks ago there was such doom and gloom around just about every aspect of the club.
Ben, Ben, Brady and Co. take a bow.

The Stephenson trade looks like a typical North bashing set up to me, with the added bonus of him being a Pies player to generate clicks.

He'll stay...and the media can have another go at us for missing a big fish...this time tomorrow we would have offered him 750x6 to come and Damo and co can have a good laugh at our expense...paranoid? me? No way :)
Don’t see it that way at all. If the deal doesn’t go through Collingwood will have failed to alleviate their cap issue which has been highly publicised, and we will look stronger for refusing to take over their problem at any cost.

If we get the deal across the line then we the way I see it is we have taken advantage of them.

Win win situation for me either way.

Higgins out outweighs Stephenson in considering all the other matures gone.

Laugh all you want.

One more year of Higgins does not outweigh potentially 10+ years of Stephenson - who won the Rising Star in a very talented draft class and kicked nearly 60 goals in his first 38 games. Please, he'd be a fantastic addition to the list and perfectly fits the age profile we're going for.

You honestly think Stephenson is some gun pick up?

F*** yeah. The kid was a beast in his first season (a grand final season no less), then did a kid thing and made a bet and then the next year got glandular fever.

It's sad that he can need a change of scenery so quickly but through some fault of his own and some dumb luck if that is what we are a chance to be then I'll welcome him with open arms.

Please pardon my ignorance, new poster, but wouldn't option 2 and picking up pick 14, be highly dependent on what the Bulldogs get for Dunkley? If they get one of the * top 10 picks wouldn't they be better off trading that out before it gets absorbed by the JUH pick and then trying to trade back up after he is theirs?

Higgins had 1 year left on a contract that we were not going to extend.

After Which he would have had no currency.

We have made it very clear the direction we are heading, trying to get growth into our kids, why would we leave him languishing on a back flank for another 12 months and then he retires or leaves for nothing?

Fine.

Have both.

Did you watch you him this year?

I'll welcome him but I'm not excited about it considering who are leaving.

I have an awful feeling about this one. I am a bit of a pessimist, but something just isn't right...
I’m with you on this. The only thing that makes this ok is if it’s for peanuts.

You don’t get rid of young talent, unless there is something not right.

Stephenson won the RS by sitting at the back of packs kicking easy goals. The kid is no star.

Lots of posts touching on outlier issues such as the gambling, health and culture.

For me none of these are high enough to deter taking a chance for the right deal.
What i do fear however is this becoming the mason wood sequel.
