Brown has kicked some absolute cracking roving goals.

He’s not Charlie Cameron, but fu** me, he isn’t Mason Cox either.

Agree, it's one of the reasons that I rate him so highly.

It will be interesting to see if he can get back to somewhere near his best for Melbourne. If he does (and I hope he does), he'll win them games.

How good was Drew Petrie roaming up between the arcs. Gave us that get out mark so often. Need another forward like that.

Indeed.

When fit he's actually pretty good at ground level for his height.

This is the best one

Waite was great at that too imo

Absolute rubbish indeed.

When we had Waite both would roam up and down the field as an outlet from defense.

His running capacity is better than Cameron's yet people now bizarrely claim he's just a stay at home FF off how used this season.

Either no idea or haven't watched him play. Or both.

That's the thing - he is objectively a better runner then Cameron but fact is Cameron has averaged 16, 15 and 16 disposals before 2020 and Brown averaged 12, 11 and 11 and over this same period Cameron averaged 2 more marks per game than Brown each of the 3 seasons over this same period.

Anyway feel free to continue suggestion I have no idea or don't watch us play.

What does disposals have to do with running capability?

They both play different roles in vastly different teams.

Cameron has had many very good games as the stay at home FF as well. Not so much the last couple of years due to the emergence of Himmelberg and playing Finlayson forward, but he is still serious quality.

Off course he is. I did say that is only marginally better.

What shits me is Daniher fetches pick 7. GWS want 2 first rounders for Cameron which they'll probably get from Geelong. Brown ... 2nd rounder, if lucky.

And I do realise Cameron/Brown contract situations are slightly different.

You're both confusing aerobic ability and mobility. Cameron is better in traffic than Ben once the ball hits the ground.

No, I’m rebuking the ‘Brown stays close to goal’ myth that seems to be popping up around here.

Cameron is undoubtably more agile.

The Daniher pick shits us all, but has zero bearing on the Brown trade.

Yes. So it makes the discussion moot in one sense. But in another sense, it does tell us what is the AFL market's relative perception of the two players.

I think it's more labelling Ben a traditional hit up forward, which isn't really as stay-at-home as it might imply. We know that running capacity is a great strength of Ben's and it's how he's able to destroy defenders the longer the game goes. Shorter quarters this year robbed him of this key advantage.

Because in the modern game it is extremely difficult to get touches inside forward 50m unless you mark it or are good at ground level? As a result it is easier to get touches outside your forward 50m.

I watch 4-5 games most weeks so I've seen plenty of Cameron.

This statement is so wrong on so many levels. How the xxxx can that be rationalised. On performance goals consistency or any other rational assessment the three should all be within a reasonable stretch of each other. The media, the AFL, other clubs can all go and get xxxxed.
