2020 vision – Drawing level on Wins & Losses by the end of the decade

This thread always makes me happy. Then it makes me sad because I miss reading it together with 'Buddy's All-Time' progress thread. Then it makes me happy because I think how much better we look without Buddy. Then it makes me sad because Buddy.

He wasn't just the best forward ever, he didn't just provide us with great entertainment... he was a bona fide stats machine, and WE LOVE STATS!

Err... anyway. Onwards to 49 I say.

What would be great would be to get this up on the scoreboard when it finally ticks over, hopefully at the G.

Don't be sad Arc1 . Simply replace your love of the Buddy's progress thread with this one....

Watch it weekly as Roughie, slowly but surely, reels in Buddy's Hawthorn goal tally. Revel in the rapid rise of Bruest and Gunston in the goal-kicking ladder of all time. :rainbow::thumbsu:

This is my kind of thread. I am always reading and comparing our club's record vs. others, finals record, greatest winning/losing margins etc. Keep up the fantastic work Mightyhawks.

In saying all that, if we had to drop games each year then please let it be against Freo, Swans and North only. Except for finals of course: then its kill everything in our path.

Also I like how we are slowly creating a gap against Saints and Bulldogs as both were neck and neck with us for many years.

You can add Melbourne into the mix with Dogs & Saints too. On a 12 game winning streak against the Dees and only 10 games ahead

It's certainly nice to see more teams in green than red

Hopefully we can reel in the Eagles and Port over the next 3 or 4 years as well to give us a winning record against all interstate sides

This is the only thread where the Grand Final really is just another game

At the start of 2015 we were -48 with an all time record of 911-19-959
At the end of 2015 we are -36 with an all time record of 930-10-966

In order of best to worst records, at the moment we stand at
Gold Coast 7-0
GWS 3-1
Brisbane Bears 12-3
Fremantle 24-8
Swans 89-2-69
North 93-2-75
Fitzroy 63-1-52
Melbourne 84-74
St Kilda 79-2-71
Brisbane Lions 15-13
Bulldogs 80-2-75
Adelaide 19-18

Geelong 72-1-85
West Coast 21-25
Richmond 68-85
Port Adelaide 13-18
Collingwood 64-96
Essendon 62-96
Carlton 61-102

Statistical highlights for the year
We now have a winning record v the Crows for the first time since 1998
Our record has improved against 13 clubs, unchanged against the Bombers and gone backwards against GWS, Richmond and Port
We have an overall winning % of 49.06% which is our all time best %

So we are on track for our goal of drawing level on Wins & Losses by the end of the decade. Needs us to catch up 7-8 matches a year which is a real challenge - we need to go 15-7 or better in H&A matches

Our all time finals record is incredible... but that's for another thread

Which may be hard with our list getting order and a mini rebuild likely to happen

Now we are -33 with an all time record of 934-10-967

Minus 33 and counting.

The last time we were minus 33 was after round 11 1927.

I've italicised the 5 teams we've played so far this year and they are the narrowest records (in % terms) that we have. So winning 4 out of the 5 of them is terrific. If our side goal here is to have a winning record against as many teams as possible then you could say the Adelaide win was an "8 point game" as it'd be 19-19 if we'd lost the game

Looking ahead, if we could repeat last years efforts of a 16-6 H&A season then we'll be around -25 depending on finals results and on track for parity by the end of the decade

But no time to look ahead as we have GWS (a slender 3-1) and Richmond coming up...

Good thread.
But should we just look for parity with losses or for 50% winning in all games played (including draws)? Are we -52

Yo!! MightyHawks - I don't want to steal your thunder brother... :D

So, by the end of this year the deficit could be:

a) At our perfect best 11 (win all 14 remaining games including all finals assuming 3 finals)
b) At our acceptable 19 (win 10 more H&A, lose 4, and still win all 3 possible finals) or...
c) At our less-than-ordinary 26 - (win 8 more H&A, lose 6, win one final, lose one final)

Hoping for a) but will gladly accept b).

Bring it on...

Not sure option a) is likely but the deficit is coming down nicely at the moment!!!
