Walters was drafted as an inside/out forward/mid. That what what Western will need to be too, as an inside mid only he's almost certainly doomed to failure.
He's not an exclusive inside mid, he never has been. He's played forward and wing plenty. He played a whole quarter forward in the u18 All Stars game. You know that 3rd quarter -> Gold team's best quarter because Black coincidentally didn't have Western in the middle? But you'd know that because clearly you've watched plenty of him play ;)

So much the better, I was addressing the idea that seemed to be forming in here that we were getting an inside mid out of this. For what it's worth I seem to recall he being describe in here, over this and last year, as playing games on the wing and half forward as well.

Obviously I haven't seen him play, why would I? Unless you're a recruiter, parent of a player or retired ain't nobody got time for that.

With that superiority complex why are you even on BigFooty?

Would be terrifying at that age and size getting chucked in the guts with guys the size of Edwards , Danger ( Mumford 😵)
Makes you appreciate even more what Serong has been able to produce this year . Hats off !
Edwards of Richmond? o_O
super player, but hardly physically imposing. he makes Bambi look "built"

Yeh Fair call
Maybe it's the beard makes him look mean
6 foot and 80kg ain't no bambi
compared to me it is. :moustache::p
I'm that height & if I lost all of my (way too much) fat, I'd be at least 90kg. he's pretty slight for an experienced player.

Game two of the WA u18 All Stars is on tomorrow at 11:30am. I'll be informing my businesses I am retiring (just for this weekend) so I have the time to watch it.

Nick Martin is switching from Black to Gold to fill Logan McDonald's (calf soreness) spot. However given Jack Avery is back in for Black so I'm not sure that evens the teams up. Also missing from last week will be Rundle (hamstring), Willson (ribs) and Chipper (quad). CWalker (jaw) and Foley (concussion) are 50/50 to play. Hopefully Gold steps up and the contest is far more even tomorrow.

Hoping to see Shannon Neale being a bit more prominent in the forward line this time around.

Missing most of the best talent now. Carroll, Trew, Walker, O'Driscoll and McDonald all missing. Odds on Western to get best on again?

I'm actually hoping they play him forward more this game, so maybe not. The recruiters already know what he can do in the middle. I'm a big fan of Brockman, so think he'll get noticed again this week. Could see him lining up in the middle a bit to see how he goes. Hoping the Gold midfield is better this time and if they do then Winder could be in the mix as well.

Could see Avery putting his hand up. Difficult coming off an injury but he was in some fine form in Colts. DGB and Chapman (2nd and 3rd best WA prospects) are quality but defenders rarely win best on ground.

So many outs but WA has a really strong pool of players this year. I can't remember the last time it was this strong.

ModernArtillery on the Draft Hub board has Walker as his 15th highest rated player for the draft. With Jack Ginnivan at 14 so at or around our pick if it goes that way. He’s a nippy, clever small forward which is exactly what we need.

As an aside I love the way ModernArtillery has been honest and upfront about his exposure to the players that he’s reviewing.

Be curious to see how Haddow goes in the midfield, if he actually play there. We provably don't need another back, but midfielder hmm.

In fairness the Black midfield has been pretty ordinary - and Vanirsen is now injured. Spyvee has been great for Gold in the middle. Haddow also did a pretty terrible i50 kick to go with his good work.

Looks like Black are putting Western in the midfield for Q2. And now he's got a hand injury.
