If the player that comes up at our pick has clearly higher potential in the eyes of our recruiters then they should definitely pick them over perceived positional needs. For every good key forward in the comp picked in the teens there are 10 Michael Apeness's. Ultimately you can't field gaps on the field with spuds. I think our list is in such good shape with the amount of quality talent already here we can afford to just keep adding the best talent available. Fill the gaps with trading (and not hero trades for A graders. If you want cover for key forwards, then trade someone in who is prepared to play third fiddle)
Now of course our ranks might be different to the amateur draft watchers, or we might rate them more or less the same in that range. Who can say.
