Have to say if Cox is on the board at our pick, I would be surprised if we leave him, he actually addresses both the needs stated by Belly and JLo, outside speed and also a developing KPF.

He could become a game changing winger making the perfect outlet dump kick/drop back interceptor leaving our 2nd ruck (Lobb) forward and deeper which holds our structure, he has the pace and kicking skills to do this. Or he develops into the KPF over time as he really is a great size and good marking player.

If he's gone on draft day I wonder if we think of live trading out our 12 (or 15 at the time) for some early seconds like another poster mentioned in another thread eg. for Crows 22+23, where we can take Baldwin/Neale/Callow without reaching too far or if we just take best available and back top end talent.

You would think with Western + Walker both addressing our needs for outside speed our focus with our other pick(s) would be a tall and probably a medium forward to replace Banfield? So if Sturt/Fyfe is injured we don't have to change our structure and go smaller. Ford would be a good option for that I think
Will be interesting to see what happens. I like mobile talls, and don’t think they need to be KPPs to be valuable. Gunston and Westhoff for example.

if he isn’t available I think we still need forward/mids. Sturt and Henry may work out but we have transitioning issues forward. A massive positive for us would be more midfield goals. That is where the likes of Carroll and Cook come into play. There are a few who could be very useful for us.

- Western and Walker are basically rated identical by recruiters, some have Walker higher, some Western
- Bid for the two expected outside top 25
- Expects clubs to pick up Baldwin late, if at all

All of thsi is good news for us IMO, given our stocks, we'd burn a 3rd on Baldwin easily I hope. Trade back into the draft with a future 3rd after W/W bids

Do you reckon there's a chance we could grab Neale before the first bid comes?
Depends where our picks end up, assuming we make trades. I'd assume our first is way too high for Neale and I dont think pick 32 is going to survive an NGA bid.

I'm also not sure you'd want to take Neale before pick 40, production isnt exactly demanding a high pick but I dont pretend to know anything

TLDR: Maybe =)

Also said he sees Ford being taken from pick 35 onwards

Henry's been getting Rozee comparisons hasn't he? We could use some of that.
I think Henry will be an absolute gun. Once he adjusts to the speed and physicality of AFL (which may take a few seasons) he will come good. I think we all assumed he'd be a gun from day one. Probably realistically needs another 15-30 games before we really see his skillset flourish.

Are we talking the same Henry here??

Having watched his draft highlight video on Youtube, I'm all for taking Cox with our 1st pick. He genuinely looks at home at either end of the ground, and is a perfect fit for our list. I would play him like a mid-size forward until he builds some size, then as a genuine tall after that. If Lobb goes down with injury or poor form, Cox could also play that ruck/forward role.

I would be very surprised if we drafted a mid, we just extended Valente for 2 years and he hasn't even played a game, so the club clearly sees some promise there. I actually wouldn't mind seeing Cerra and Valente inside/ruck rover with Brayshaw a bit more outside/rover, Brayshaw's kicking improved a lot this year and he showed a bit of run and carry.

looks like a slightly less athletic version of Rozee in these highlights. I reckon Essendon will snap him up.

I'm on this page as well
Don't need any more junior mids , wait for Cripps in this area .
The one thing we are missing is that Hogan / McCarthy sized lead up / running forward .
Pick the best available there as we have immediate and long term holes to fill .
Not sure about Cox kicking style , looked ugly but was effective ( probably hit targets in the highlights as the junior pressure and defensive skill level wasn't as intense)

I like the way Ford goes about it particularly his tackling pressure but perhaps his vertical leap and mobility would make up for height

he's is only 5 cm shorter than MCarthy and close to his weight
