The question that seems to have been missed in this conversation, and it may be this draft but who are the better outside/mid wingers with a bit of toe that can break lines and have good speed.

Last year it was Stephens, this year the closest comparison is Cook, but most of his highlights have him as a one out fwd flanker.

Macrae is up there but not a line breaker, where/who are the line breakers in this draft..... that point of difference.

I know Chris25 is keen on Cook, and I get why, although he looks like a variant on Sturt... nothing wrong with that either, just chasing another Brad Hill TBH

Cook and Macrae would be getting drafted as footballers and not speed/power, which I have no problem with. If you want genuine speed with our first pick (i.e. not our NGA kids), then I think it needs to be other options.

Of the guys who might be available that are both genuinely quick (sub 3 second 20m) and are rated above average kicks, the only one I see (using draft central guide) is Perkins, and it sounds like he might go top 10. If you go to slightly above 3 second 20m (but still quick), then maybe Carroll is a good option.

Haven't seen anyone mention Bailey Laurie, and I have no real idea, but reading his profile he seems to tick a lot of boxes. Would be nice if he was a tad taller considering our list balance, but if we were going to pull out a WTF? selection, he would be a good candidate.

Conor Downie could be an option?

All this talk about utility talls is making me feel uncomfortable. How many tall players who didn't play key forward as a junior have become lead kpfs at top level in recent years? None? Brown possibly?

I'm getting a Marco Paperone vibe from some of these prospects here.

Do players who played key defender count?

Freo take Bruhn if you are wondering.

Henry, Cox, Perkins, Chapman were all taken before.

I wouldn't read into though, Sheahan clearly has NFI about what clubs needs are so it probably doesn't remotely represent what happens for real (it wasn't close last year).

Laurie will be one who goes earlier than most are talking about on here. Probably 15-25 so he enters the mix for our pick.

At the moment, there's potential for someone to 'slide' to our pick - one of Bruhn, Cox, Henry, Reid or Chapman probably. If someone doesn't slide, I expect it would be one of the next group - Cook, Macrae, Carroll, Laurie, O'Driscoll.

Bruhn sounds great apart from the fact he hasn't played in forever. One of those ones that could go either way drastically.
He has that dream mix of inside ability plus disposal skills. Valente has the same attributes, and if you bundle them in with Cerra and Serong and we have a pretty fine, skilled, young midfield. All ball winners. All with better than average disposal.

It seems this year is the most wide open field for our first pick that I can remember for some time.

Usually by now we've become irrationally, emotionally attached to some 18 year old and are willing to sell our soul to espouse their impending greatness to all who will listen. Strangely, I'm not sensing that this year.

Bruhn is what I would call a balanced mid, with high potential to have the outside flair... would be very happy if he was there come our pick.?

One of the most skilled disposals in the draft.

There is about 10 in our range that I would be happy to have.

Assuming that we end up with pick 15 I think the following players will be already gone: JUH, DGB, Tilthorpe, McDonald, Cox, Ried, Chapman, Campbell, Jones, Hollands, Phillips, Perkins, Henry and Bruhn

We won't reach for a tall so the group we can pick from include Cook, O'Driscoll, McRae, Carroll, Poulter and Powell. A decent bunch to choose from.

Of that lot I would probably plump for Cook for the outside flair and goal scoring.

Take me off ignore!;) I reckon his highlight vid shows glimpes of Serong and Toby Greene in style.
