FAQs & Resources Thread

It has an index at the top with threadmarks so it's easy to find what you're looking for – or easier than scrolling through 250 pages of AFL Rules, Regulations and CBA pdfs anyway.

These sorts of questions are all answered along with a bunch of other resources made by posters from across BigFooty (feel free to add to it!):

Frost is #24 for the Allies if you're interested in seeing him yourself. Harrison Grintell #1, Fraser Kelly #10 and Josh Green #15 other boys from our academy

Watching the SA v ALLIES game Frost looks very powerful! Could be a rookie option?

ehhh, I do like his athleticism and marking, but his disposal is a big liability and decision making at times is questionable, so it'd be a rookie at most I'd guess. If he ends up staying with our VFL side next season I'd love to see him moved into the midfield a bit more to see how he goes through the guts, that speed isn't something we have in the existing bunch

PMBangers any revised thoughts after yesterday's WA final, with a few draft prospects playing?
Not really for this year, Arthur Jones who impressed v SA the prior week did a few good things but he's West Coast NGA and a 40+ prospect anyway. JVR was pretty quiet once the Swans defenders just refused to engage in grappling contests with him which is pretty consistent with what I've noted previously anyway, his leading patterns and repeat efforts are still his strength in that regard, just not entirely convinced it works as well at the next level. Bazzo was ok but looked a little disinterested at times, but again that's fairly consistent.

I think Angus Sheldrick may end up going higher than most are predicting, has his limitations clearly but there's similar styled players that aren't as good kicks or contested ball winners as him being spoken up as first rounders

edit: I was impressed with more younger guys than draft eligible guys. I was already high on Elijah Hewett but that was a great performance on the big stage. Darcy Jones also from Swans was good, Riley Hardeman is 2023 eligible but I think he's one to watch as well.

Another out there suggestion!

Trade Coniglio to Fremantle for Rory Lobb. Lobb is on 700k for next 2 seasons so the numbers can be manipulated and smoothed over, for the balance 3 years we put in 200kPA towards the Cogs deal. Talk is Lobb would reduce his contract price to get out.

Gets us another strong marking threat who knows the club and culture and moves on a player who in all likelihood is surplus to requirements. Lobb can play the role we eventually want from Mac Andrew.

Anyway, just spitballing…Tis a long off season and we need discussion points LOL.

Rather give the rabbit one more year to see if he hopefully gets his body right.

I have to say that I'm happy that GWS has a quiet year on the trade front, and that we're not buried in numerous trading threads on BF. Hundreds of pages saying essentially the same things back and forth. :drunk:
Touch wood when you say that. It hasn’t started yet.

Love the out of the box thinking

Just don’t want Lobb back.

Not to bring up the debate on Mac Andrew again, but found this article intersting;

particularly this last part;

GWS has the second pick from that deal and its national recruiting manager, Adrian Caruso, is on record saying he would likely bid on key-position talent Darcy before Daicos on a needs basis.

That same logic is why recruiters believe the Giants will target 200cm ruckman Mac Andrew or key defender Josh Gibcus rather than the next-best midfielder, Finn Callaghan.

Andrew came through Melbourne’s Next Generation Academy, but the Demons can’t match a bid on him unless he falls outside the first 20 picks, because of new rules introduced this year.

Everyone going with us locking in Mac has been quoting Rendell, so perhaps the source Rendell is using only heard Andrew, and others have heard Gibcus

Are we sure that piece is quoting Rendell? It uses the fairly ambiguous term "recruiters", I understand Rendell is forming recruiter but this piece could be sourced from current recruiters off the record. If this is based of Rendell's comments earlier this week then I honestly wouldn't put a lot of stock into them but this seems to be sourced from more then that which makes me think it's more real. IDK it's hard to tell with any of this stuff so far out. We'll probably have a clearer picture in a couple weeks, but my gut tells my that they'll probably bid on Darcy and then take either of Gibcus or Andrew.

Mr Bangers .... any real chance someone bids on Fahey before 15? All I’ve read has him pretty highly rated so would be a bit of a steal if we get him for rubbish picks
I'd be shocked if anyone takes a guy that only plays as a defender top 15, and I'll be even more shocked if they choose to do that and it isn't Wilmot. I like Fahey, but he's behind Wilmot, Brown, Sinn, Goater and probably Chesser as a general defender in the pool, I'd rather trade into the 20's and get one of them if we're desperate for a defender than use a first rounder on him

For anyone who hasn't seen, spots left to **** over other clubs :tearsofjoy:

Clubs are aware the Bulldogs’ No. 17 and Greater Western Sydney’s pick two are both up for grabs after preliminary talks on the opening day of the trade period on Monday.

The Giants are open to shuffling down the order from pick two as they eye a key position prospect in this year’s draft such as brilliant ruckman Mac Andrew.

Pick 2 would guarantee R access to one of the two best young midfielders in the country in slick playmaker Finn Callaghan and hard nut Ben Hobbs.

The Tigers have been linked to a play on Hobbs who is widely considered a superstar onballer and future captain in the making.

I think we can kill off any thoughts of Callaghan and of keeping Pick 2. The question will be who we do the deal with and what it yields. There must be a good degree of certainty the other top selections will not be used on Andrew or Gibcus.

Perfect! I hope it is the Tigers as I think we can garner their first selection from this year as well as their future first for next year. The Crows May do the same deal as they owe us from the dealings with Hately. Plus if the Crows get pick 2 that makes them a lot closer to being able to satisfy NM for the number 1 pick being an SA boy.
I don’t think Hawks would give us their future first as they will be hitting the draft hard they next 2 years.

Like I have said previously having a strong hand in next years draft is going to be hugely beneficial. I think we can look forward to enough natural growth from players currently on our list. Then add to that the longer term prospect of Big Mac, Fahey and possibly a key position player with our pick 13.

Exciting times to be a Giant.
Thanks Collingwood [emoji1374][emoji38]

Also may I add, another player I’d love the Giants to have a serious look at is Jack Hayes from Woodville West Torrens Eagles in the SANFL. He is 23 years old, he won best on ground in the grand final on the weekend. 192cm can play at either end. He was also captain of the SA state team that beat WA this year. Very surprised he hasn’t been picked up earlier
