The next generation of star footballers are only months away from finding an AFL home.
While all eyes are on future Magpie Nick Daicos, he isn’t the only game changer in the draft pool.

South Australian midfielder Jason Horne has every trick in the book and is under serious consideration to be taken at pick one.

Outside the battle for No. 1, Horne’s South Adelaide teammate Matty Roberts has enhanced his top-10 credentials after a standout start to the season, which included an impressive SANFL League debut

Subiaco midfielder Matthew Johnson is another top prospect to have tasted senior action already this year and is a chance to be the first player taken from WA in November.

The nephew of Eddie Betts and Shaun Burgoyne, Isaiah Dudley, is lighting up the SANFL under-18s – and he’s not the only one with famous family ties in the 2021 pool.

North Adelaide’s Hugh Jackson is matching the junior ball-winning feats of North Melbourne draftee Tom Powell in South Australia but, in terms of this year’s bolters, versatile Oakleigh Chargers tall Sam Darcy looks to have him covered.

Meanwhile, there are plenty of other famous names in the mix.

Father son prospects Sam Darcy and Jase Burgoyne could prove to be draft bargains for the Western Bulldogs and Port Adelaide.

Where are the top prospects at right now? Check out our AFL Draft Dossier below to stay up to date with the latest news, analysis, scouting reports and intel on who will land where in 2021.

Just saw that video above of Horne winning that hard ball get vs Knight - definitely top two pick material and looks pretty much ready to go from round one next year based even just on that. I've got a feeling a tall forward will also sneak into the top two, probably going to North if one puts up their hand as that's their critical area of need now.

Odds of Daicos slipping to at least pick 3 are looking a little more reasonable now which would be a good outcome for us. All it might take from there is a another club or two (including GWS) not wanting to dick around because we'll match anyway and he might still slip to pick 4 or 5, which would be an excellent outcome for us and potentially open up a range of options for rounds 2 and 3 the following day.

Perhaps GWS hate for the Doggies might even nudge them towards bidding on Darcy with our first round pick, which might push Daicos back a bit further even.

Still think a Top 5 Pick would just about eat all our Picks espically IF we match a Bid for Dib

Pick 4 would be 2,034 points which works out to be 1,627 points after applying the 20% F/S discount, which we pretty much have covered already.

Pick 5 would be 1,878 points or 1,502 points after the 20% discount, which would likely leave us with some collateral to match any bid for Dib if one comes outside the top 20 picks (although we'd need more obviously as 100-150 points isn't going to cut it).

The key point here though is that we would basically be able to match the bid on Daicos with what we currently have, which means we wouldn't need to throw in any additional picks we might happen to acquire through trading or free agency. This in turn makes matching a bid on Dib a bit easier to begin with and it also opens up options to trade future picks for an additional 2nd or 3rd round pick in this draft if there's a kid we really rate who has slipped down the order (outside of Daicos and Dib).

So if Nick goes at number one,do we have enough points or how does it work?
Do we get him 100% ..

The only way we don't get him is if he doesn't nominate for us.

If he goes #1 we're basically stuffed for the rest of the draft as we'd need to find another 800+ points just to match the bid on him. The knock on effect from that is likely no Dib and no other meaningful picks in the second or third round but we'd still get Daicos.

There are some types in that 20-40 range I really like.
I hope we use trade week to get some extra future picks and we then trade into the draft once the Daicos bid is matched

A 2021 draft haul of Daicos Dib Ash Johnson Begg Stengle and someone else in the 20-40 range could be one of our better hauls of recent times Plus hopefully we can get someone of value with our early PSD pick

How would we get another Pick Between 20-40?
