No, he is a Perth boy through and through. Was drafted from Subiaco. His old man John played a small number of games in the late 80's and early 90's for the Dogs.Is he from WA? I thought Victoria?
I think Eagles have their bases covered for the immediate future. Mind you, JK is probably playing his last year, next year IMO.
Freo could use him badly.
Yes, I've never rated Dixon. I think his height is is only appeal. He isn't a smart footballer and really compensated by being a thug. It wouldn't surprise me if he started smacking blokes out of frustration as the year goes on.Was Charlie Dixons resurgent blip last year? Because he's got no excuses this year, and he looks far off the pace.

The infographic from afl said the host would be the higher h&a finisher, so unless AO don't want it, it should be.So if the Crows AFLW win over the weekend they get a home GF at AO?
so if we win..we can trump port and be the April premiers for realThe infographic from afl said the host would be the higher h&a finisher, so unless AO don't want it, it should be.

Technically it's 3 in 4 grandfinalsBack to back (with social distancing) premiers.
And 3 premierships in 5 years.

I guess this is where this little rant goes ... had a chat to a local fella who is a mad Power supporter (I'm in Hobart) and he was spelling out for me why we are stuffed as a club.
His main three points were:
- When Tex goes down we have no-one to fill his spot
- Sloane is a dog of a person and a worse leader
- All of our young players have less talent than their contemporaries from other clubs (ie no-one would swap their 6 best young talents for our 6 best young talents).
It's not really our youth that's driven those wins though, is it? Our best players have been Tex, Sloane, Smith, Laird and Keays. We've been rolling out with over a dozen under 50 gamers so far this season, the nearest teams are lucky to have 8. Yet we've won 2 out of 3 and done better against syd than anyone else.
Surely we can claim to have better youth than geelong and gc so far. What about GWS, Hawks and Carlton from last year?? Names and draft ravings and speccyness aside, all of which give no guarantees of getting W's, our young players can hold their own.
One wouldn’t expect them do drive the bus, but they are part of the journeyIt's not really our youth that's driven those wins though, is it? Our best players have been Tex, Sloane, Smith, Laird and Keays.
Here's the list of AFLCA vote winners so far:
R1 - Walker, Smith, Laird, Sloane, Keays, Butts, Sholl
R2 - Walker, Keays
R3 - Walker, Sloane, Laird, O'Brien, Keays, Smith
Butts & Sholl are both 21yo, Keays is the next youngest at 24yo, everyone else is 25+.
What we're seeing this year is the impact of a revitalised senior group. The kids have really had little impact to date, and certainly aren't yet in a position to be driving the bus themselves.
Doesn't that help the kids though. It's not really our youth that's driven those wins though, is it? Our best players have been Tex, Sloane, Smith, Laird and Keays.

Yes... but it's early to say that they're better than someone else's kids, when they're not the driving force behind our victories. Only Sholl has even earned a RS nomination. One wouldn’t expect them do drive the bus, but they are part of the journey
Yes, absolutely - but that's not the point of the discussion.Doesn't that help the kids though.
Senior players doing well, the kids able to develop with less pressure to drive the team. But develop.
Out of 22 each week we have about 7 guys over 25 years of age. Most playing well.
I’m not overly concerned if they turn out to be guns, just hope they combine as a great teamYes... but it's early to say that they're better than someone else's kids, when they're not the driving force behind our victories. Only Sholl has even earned a RS nomination.
Will they turn out to be gun kids? I bloody well hope so, but we certainly can't mount that argument based on what we've seen so far in 2021.
We've seen that even going one player down especially without a sub can make it significantly harder to win a game so I think just pretending that Tex, Sloane, Smith and Lairdy are doing it all is a bit much.Yes, absolutely - but that's not the point of the discussion.
The point was a comment by a Port supporter that our kids are no good (my paraphrasing). This was countered by the argument that our kids had won 2 of our first 3 games this season. I was countering that argument by pointing out that it was our senior players who won those games, and that those wins are therefore hardly evidence regarding the quality of our kids.
Based on the AFLCA votes, only Butts & Scholl have made a significant contribution to either of our wins.

Put it this way... without Tex, we lose the Geelong & Gold Coast games by 5 goals, and the Sydney game by 10 goals. Without Tex & Sloane, we lose by 8 & 13 goals. That's how important they have been to our team so far this year. We've seen that even going one player down especially without a sub can make it significantly harder to win a game so I think just pretending that Tex, Sloane, Smith and Lairdy are doing it all is a bit much.
I dont think anyone would argue that Tex (or Sloane, or Crouch, or Lynch) was in sterling form last year, yet we won 3 games then. Howd that happen?
Just face it, conceding our kids are quite good is the unfashionable thing to do, especially with commentators, but even with Crows supporters.
And an injured RowellYou'd bloody well hope so with Geelong, seeing how long they've been contending. You're a brave man to argue that we have better youth then Gold Coast though. Anderson, Luko, Rankine, Ballard and King as examples for how good their youth is, not only is it kids, but it's kids who are their main contributors.
We're hoping we're like Gold Coast in a year or so where we have kids leading the way, and not just Tex, Sloane, and Laird.
