A shot at compo is better than nothing.
Band 5 would be after our third rounder.
That is pretty much exactly what we would be paying for CCJ.
I don't see the tigers giving us anything back for Taz in a trade.
At least if he goes FA there is a chance.

I don't mind the trade they proposed today.
future 3 + Taz = a future 4th + CCJ.
I'm pretty impressed they went so low, no BF posters even thought of it.
Its a great way to give nothing at all.

If Im Xerri and another club comes knocking, id be leaving. CCJ will be higher up the pecking order and they indicated as much.

IMO he would be normally worth around 4th rounder, 3rd given he has a contract. Pick inside the 40 would be amazing return. Unlikely. If we get a 3rd rounder we take that and run

St Kilda is the only party interested and they only have picks 9, 49 and 67. According to Luff, he would be in the 49-67 range.

Kangaroos play hard ball over Coleman-Jones trade

NORTH Melbourne is adamant Richmond will have to accept pick 38 for Callum Coleman-Jones or nothing as a trade on the ruck-forward hit a major stumbling block on the first day of trade period.

The Roos have been steadfast they will not offer up their pick 20 for a player who was drafted four years ago with that same pick.

The Tigers’ early threat will be to retain Coleman-Jones if a deal cannot be struck but the Roos’ capacity to take him in the pre-season draft makes that a challenge.

North Melbourne is prepared to argue in good faith and not use the pre-season draft as leverage but simply believes ruckmen are not traded often for top-20 picks.

Richmond’s own premiership ruckman Toby Nankervis was acquired for pick 46 in a trade coup, while Jarrod Witts and Braydon Preuss were both secured for picks later than 30. The Roos’ next pick after 20 is 38, but Richmond will want a selection closer to 20 to secure a trade for Coleman-Jones.

Hopes the trade that would also see Robbie Tarrant get to Punt Road might proceed smoothly have evaporated.
Tarrant is a free agent but if he is included in the Coleman- Jones deal he does not officially arrive as a free agent, which would have diluted the compensation for Mabior Chol.

At some stage the Tigers might have to accept that No.38 pick rather than lose Coleman-Jones for nothing.

Richmond has no plans to bolster its midfield with a senior player from a rival side given cap constraints but has its eye on the Western Bulldogs’ No.17 selection.

The Tigers already have picks 7 and 15 and with selections 26, 28, 38, 42, 47 plus the Coleman-Jones selection could trade up for a third top-20 selection.

Tarrant is set to be the club’s big-name addition as it improves its draft hand and continues to blood kids including Riley Collier-Dawkins, Thompson Dow, Will Martyn and Maurice Rioli Jr.

Even if the Tigers were forced to accept pick 38 for Coleman-Jones their net gain from trade period would be 38, 39 (the Chol compensation) and Robbie Tarrant for Chol and Coleman-Jones.

The Roos believe Coleman- Jones can become a bone fide ruck-forward who allows Todd Goldstein to play as a forward.

Sometimes you just need to realise you don't have the upper hand and let it go, otherwise you just end up looking like a tool. The Tigers are pretty much moving themselves into Dodoro territory.

NORTH Melbourne will not offer more than a two-year contract for Darcy McPherson in a deal that could also see it secure Gold Coast’s pick 19 and absorb his $400,000 salary next year.

The unique trade would see the Suns hand over the cherished pick to help clear cap space but also receive a North Melbourne future second-rounder in what amounts to a salary cap dump for the Suns.

McPherson is happy to stay at the Suns and honour his one-year deal and would only move to Arden St if he was handed a three-season deal.

The Roos are keen to be a part of the deal given they have said they believe 23- year-old McPherson could fit into their forward line as a clever pressuring forward.

But his demand for a three-year deal could scuttle the deal and see him playing out the last year of his contract in 2022.

Given McPherson is 4 years older than Mahony and they have similar output currently, he has Dom Tyson list clogger written all over him. Better to work with the Suns on another deal for pick 19 that doesn't include him.

Surely we can offer 2 years with triggers for a 3rd. I really want pick 19 and 20 in this draft, gives the team so many options on draft night.

I think he’s saying it’s a good pick but it’s not worth selling the farm for.

I’ll trust the coaches etc but the deal isn’t a must in my opinion

Haha yep the first article Wreck Em Ralph basically concedes his beloved Tiges have no leverage but is pushing hard for his boys to have a win by us handing over pick 38 instead of walking CCJ to the PSD..

The second article is weighted so that if we don’t seal the GC deal that we will lose the “much cherished pick 19” as if we lose another ‘big fish’... 😂😂😂

Much cherished pick 19... pick 19...you know, cherished for decades... bwaaaaahaaa!!!!

Far out man, these media types really must hate our little club dishing it up to their beloved Tigers, they’ll try anything to keep us from succeeding. 😂

I like this type of north. We may have buckled in the past and given him 3 years.
 
Im glad we aren't caving on dmac, our club would obviously offer an extension if he performed well. It would be madness to pay a big wage for three years to someone who has been pushed out of their own best 22 for two years straight when its part of a salary dump. If the hawks decide to throw everything at gc for a short term fix maybe it's better to let them blow their wad
