Billings will go, as how else would "rival list managers" know and say he's being pushed out with a low offer, which would have to be coming from Billings manager right?

If Joe Daniher got a mid first round compo being an injury plagued cripple at Essendon then i am hopeful the saints will get an end of first round compo.
Joe did get offered about 800 a year though

Interesting.

Tom Morris thinks JB will leave but has no idea where too. Cal Twomey and Riley Beveridge said today their mail is he will stay.

Don't tell me journo's are dart throwing about trades? Surely that never happens.

Out of the two would rather keep Billings. Can cover Dunstan with Bytel.

After R5 if someone said we would get a R3 or even a R2 for Dunstan we would have said ' where do we sign'?

Hope we have no injuries and kids come on them or we might miss finals again. I guess waiting is a Saints fans lot though.

Based off some of the combos last year, we might even be able to get an end of 2nd for Dunstan if more than 1 club is interested. And thats probably best for both parties and with Gresh back, Clark getting more mid time and Bytel, we dont really have a spot for him long term.

Based off where we are on the ladder now, letting Billings go for what would end up being pick 30 would just be crazy. Not getting anywhere near his value.

We can afford to let 1 go, but letting both go would be a big step backwards for the list. Surely we are smarter than that.

I'd rather keep both unless they hold us ransom and get overs for them. I reckon Dunstan will embarrass us if we lose him for a third rounder. If Carlton get him and jump us my head will explode.

What’s the quality of their mail? [emoji848]

I just want to see Dunstan have a long career, and I think his best bet to do that is at another club. If he plays like he has in the 2nd half of this season at another club, I will be so happy for him. Once we get Gresh back, is there a spot for Dunstan long term? Especially if we want to play Clark and Bytel and whoever else we draft. If he played like this last year, it would have been really interesting whether we still brought in Crouch.

Whereas with Billings, he brings a lot of qualities we don't have in other players and his standard level (not his playing injured level from the 2nd half of this season) is significantly better the compo pick we would get back. Letting someone who reportedly wants to stay leave because we would only offer under their value would just be terrible list management. We dont have enough players with proven quality to just let one leave for an average pick.

I reckon Gresh is still speculative at the moment. He's almost at Hanners level of certainty. Dunstan is a guaranteed inside mid. I'd be signing him up unless it's crazy money. Before he came in we were a very ordinary midfield.

Gresham is no guarantee to be the player we want and his injuries are concerning but it's not to the same extent as Hannebery. Hannebery's muscles - primarily calves and hamstrings - have shown to be consistently incapable of handling the rigours of AFL. Gresham is more long term random injuries, particularly the knee and the achilles.

Why is Gresh speculative?

Missed most of 2 years, coming off an Achilles injury so will be slow to regain confidence let alone explosiveness etc. In 2020 6 of his 11 games were under 20 possessions. He's still a developing player but has a way to get back to his best straight away. He's unlikely to walk into a midfield spot and put up big performances from round one.

Because it just doesn't happen
Have you seen this reported anywhere but here because if it was true it would be out
Its like the stories of Kelly buying a house in Sandy

He certainly got ambassador money from the AFL as a bribe to keep him at the Suns. That is fact.

It is not unrealistic or outside the realms of possibility that a kid who wanted to come home would put a clause into his next contract as a condition of staying to ensure the loss of talent never happened with Lukoscious ( spelling?) also rumoured to leave.

I never said it was true, I just said that it is an assumption that could be reasonably made.

To be fair, Kelly did buy a house in Sandy...he also apparently owns 2 more in Melbourne and 2 in sydney.

The big property rumour at the moment is that an unnamed player from up north has recently purchased a house in bentleigh East for $1.65m.

Now the question is, do you purchase something like that to live in or invest in?

One with an extra en suite bedroom for his brother, perchance? 🤣

His 2020 injury is irrelevant now. He returned from it completely fine and played some very good football.

It will likely take him some time to regain his best form but plenty of players have recovered from Achilles recently and returned to their best. We shouldn't re-sign Dunstan because it might take Gresh some time to get back to his very best. He should only sign with us if we think he will be a long term piece of the midfield.
