Hes right. Lethers has been doing a substantial rebuild. He basically publicly announced it as such shortly after joining saying he was as in love with the list as others.

Since then he's been churning it hard. With the short term in mind. Now that the list is somewhat stable in terms of seniority I think they're going to hit the youth very hard.

Our talent in the u25 bracket would be up there with the best.
Steele, Marshall and Billings are only 25.
Our list demo quality gap is still in the older group that’s why we have been bringing in older guys.

its starting to balance out now, need to be going for both experience and youth this year.

I would take RCD from the Tigers though...

I think it has a stable base now of seniority. You have a say a 25 to 28 of players than can push for finals.

Can it challenge for a flag. Probably not.

But there's potential in the under 25s that if we add more to it could do some damage.

That allows us the churn the failings of trout. Which was utterly abysmal.

so judging Billings on his last 2 years of his big fat deal and he hasn’t performed anywhere near acceptable.

People complain about Membrey not performing.. Billings is the biggest myth/non-performer in this team. Can’t hit targets/kick goals regularly and fumbles under even a little bit of pressure. A half forward’s job is either kicking goals, or assisting goals.. we’ve seen both Butler and Higgins do it, Billings just goes missing. When we need someone to be sure of himself, make something out of nothing, kicking/assisting goals.. he is not there.. He may need a fresh start, but expecting a miracle after 8 years of mediocrity is just unrealistic.

The Herald Sun has an article about Jake, but I can't read it. I gather he's been told he won't get a contract for next year.

His game vs Brisbane last year was enough for me. How many disposals did he have to 3 qtr time.

Since each player lost to Free Agency receives their own, individual compensation pick, then what happens in the event of acquiring a Free Agent, ourselves? For example, if Ross and Dunstan left for two 3rd round picks, and we obtained a player valued at a 2nd round pick, then would that eliminate only one of our 3rd round picks or (nearly) both?

Yep.

So if for example we lost Billings (end of 1st round compo) and Dunstan (end of 3rd round- UFA compo) but picked up Chol (Rich receive end of 3rd round UFA compo) then Dunstan & Chol cancel each other out.

We still walk away with the Billings compo pick.

At least that's the way it was... the AFL are always messing around with that sort of stuff.

He's been given next to no chances unfortunately. Even when he plays he gets minimal TOG. He'd be my pick of fringe players at the Tigers along with CCJ and Chol.

His best years were at the bombers , i think his back was stuffed when he came to us , i think he wanted a nice long contract
