That is what it says , they never offered him a contract - so he is de-listed which means we get nothing for him - strange if its true.
He isn’t delisted until we lodge our list movements. Of which the final list lodgement is post trade period.

so it makes no sense to delist him prior.

Wait, so we have delisted him and cost ourselves a compo pick we would have got from his unrestricted free agency status?

We are dumb but surely to god not that dumb.....unless we already have a FA wrapt up

Because doing what you have said is effectively going to cost us

Ross Dunstan and Battle for Parker and 2 NGA kids that we will get without moving on Battle to accomodate.

signing Parker also takes out right out of the equation of next years free agents and there is a few at the pies I’d be keen on. Wouldn’t mind Miller at the Suns either.

Miller would be obscenely good. He'd be a superstar in Melbourne.

Not really sure of your point nor was I being defensive.

whether a player turns 30 in round 1 or on Christmas. He will still be 30 in his first year of a significant deal.

we aren’t seeing his best years. We are seeing what is most likely the Start of the decline at that point.

by all means, if we hypothetically sign Parker tell yourself we signed a 28 year old. If he doesn’t perform next year, tell yourself he is a 29 year old and has few more good years left. However the media will make sure to rub our noses in how we signed another over the hill swan on significant money who will be 30 in his first year at stkilda.

Don’t stress. He’s not delisted
Just playing devils advocate.

if we told him he isn’t getting a new deal and that we delist him. He doesn’t need to sign with a club during free agency. Thus meaning he can be picked up as a delisted player ala McKernan last year for us.

Fair call. We may be able to get Mitchito & Windy without moving Battle on though (I didn't make that clear in my post).

How much short do you think the combined salaries of Dunstan & Ross are of the 700 large that Parker is reported to be after?

I don’t think it’s short. I think it’s 150-300k over.

Fair enough. Let’s hope not

Either we believe Luke will accept any offer we put to him, or we have another free agent lined up that we know will cancel any compensation we receive for Luke.

I can’t think of another reason why we would allow him to become a delisted free agent.

If Parker is being pushed out because of the length and value of the contract he’s seeking, why exactly would he come to us? He’s already ticked winning a premiership. North would have a bucket load of cash to splash.

But that now means if Ross leaves it cancels out his compo.

so from 2 potential compos. We now get 0.

the only way this makes sense is that we bring in2 free agents ourselves

I wouldn't say no to Parker on the right deal.

After reading ScrappyDo's post yesterday though ... the whole extra mid solution might be right under our noses. With Paton coming back and Webster playing well, we could move Sincs there. He might tear it up given his much improved form.
We've tried Sincs as a mid. He's way more effective in the role he is playing now. Why would we change it back?
