Tough on Clav but I doubt he'll get picked up.
Yeah I can't see him making it. He showed glimpses but he seemed more suited to taking the third tall than he did with genuine KPFs. At 195cm, if you're not taking the main KPFs, you really need some elite weapons as an intercept/rebound player. He doesn't have pace and isn't much of a kick. Showed glimpses of what he can do as an interceptor, but we're well equipped in that area.

Yeah just didn’t see it with him personally bit like Logan Austin minus the non accountability :p

196 not bad size for CHB

I love the way the African guys move, it's probably racist but the Sudanese guys seem to glide across the ground and time when to meet the ball at it's highest point so well.

I looked him up, was an Adelaide NGA kid who broke his leg coming into the draft and missed out. Doesn't sound like he's ready made at 20 but has plenty of upside. Some one has put him up for the combine though so there must be interest.

We all know key positional players with ability are hard to come by so Clavarino must of been way off the pace if he has been delisted.
Battle and Joyce will be our remaining players who can fill the role and if Howard goes down we are going to be in trouble.
Having Carlisle , Clavarino , Roberton , Frawley , McKernan , Dunstan , Alabakis all moved on we have at least 7 spots to fill and it could well be more so they must know they can fill the void somehow.
Just using our draft picks and a couple picks in the rookie draft we could easily pick up 5 kids and see what players are delisted from clubs to fill the role players they need but I really feel they may have already sorted a player already if they have delisted Oscar.
By the looks PHunter will be kept in the squad to replace Alabakis and the way they have been plucking players from the SAFL they may well have another player heading our way.
If only we had a 2nd round draft pick because this Bazzo kid from the WAFL is what we need to replace Oscar , he is capable of filling the key position now - the reason I'm saying this is because he is currently playing for Swan Districts at seniors level and they are brilliant at development - you only have to look at Denver - Granger at Hawthorn or Sam Taylor at GWS and the talent developed at the club is always of a high standard like Lachie Neale , Coniglio , Charlie Cameron , M.Walters , Nic Nat and before that Garry Sidebottom , Phil Narkle , Leon Baker , Simon Beasley , Michael Richardson , Scott Cummings , Andrew Embley , Andrew Krackouer- the list is long.

Always appreciate your input dude. My info is limited over here. I don't know much about the opposition teams free agents (other than marquee players) and even less about local state leagues. So good to get a light shone on it. Cheers. 👍

No it's not. Clav has been notified.

Hopefully he goes off and does a Sam Collins at state level. I hate seeing young guys dream ending, he didn't look out of place. Seems like a good young man too.

Probably?

Probably?

It's good natured racism though...well unless you're are a short, fat, uncoordinated Sudanese kid who feels inadequate because he moves like a potato rolling down a hill.

Not racist at all Gringo. I find it interesting how quickly the African migrants and refugees have got to the top of our sports in one generation.
We have young men in AFL at the highest level and in secondary competitions, playing for the socceroos, playing for the Boomers, the guy from Perth who ran the 800 in Tokyo.
Young women in WAFL, Netball etc. They are tall and athletic and as you say have a beautiful running gait.
One way to this countries heart is to be good at sport and embrace it.

Clavarino gone apparently
Another delisted
We must have some coming because lots are going

Clavs disposal i think sealed his fate which has to be very strong if you want to play defender and his was shizen. Was behind Joyce and we are stacked in defence as it is, so good move.

Got me thinking how we are going to have the picks to fill our list. Do we uprade a few then fill up in the rookie draft? Split our first? Swap next years second for one this year?

Won't be a vanilla trade period. Going to interesting to see what rabbit we pull out of the hat this year.

Just a hunch but from the day we drafted Clav and I had a look at his highlights it was obvious he didn't really have any fast twitch muscle and I wondered at the time if his abilities would be hampered by adding the weight he's need to be an AFL KPD. I suppose there's a lesson to be learned there, but is it something that's demonstrated at the combine?

Not having a dig, but I don't understand your posting at times. You have been a bit grumpy about how the saints have been going regarding on field, trading and drafting etc.

But have all the time for what other clubs would see as "plodders" in Ross, Dunstan, Clav and co and don't like seeing then let go when they really aren't much chop for future plans due to limitations

It actually makes you proud of your country and the individuals themselves. It's a rare thing these days.

He seemed fine as a pure stopper type like Petty for Melbourne. I'm not 100% convinced that Gallagher is the right man for the job yet. Tight cap, lets guys walk for nothing and replaces solid depth players with broken depth players and seems hell bent on Ben King over any pressing needs. We have a lot of guys coming off the list and I hope we don't replicate last year with a few old shit boxes that can't get in the park.

Just quietly, how sure are you that he is "hell bent" on brining King in. He hasn't openly stated that, nor has anyone at the club.
Petty at Melbourne is depth, he is 4th in line after may, Lever and that other fella from gws (can't remember his name atm 🤣🤣), he is the same as what Joyce is at the saints. Last year we brought in the "old fellas" as depth via DFA means, we didnt draft or trade for them.

Assuming we have a good clean out we'll have at the minimum 3 from the main draft and probably 2 or 3 NGA kids eligible as cat 2 rookies.
We could also list an NGA kid for nothing when he passes pick 41 or something, but I doubt any but Windy and Owens get bid on.

I wouldn't discount another very late pick (or two) like we did with Leo.

So let's say:
Pick 9
Owens
Windy
Late pick
Rookie
Cat B
Cat B
DFA - Talia
DFA - XXX

Easy as pie.

I disagree, list management is about having a competitive side and improving it over time. Losing guys that are experienced and hoping kids with under 50 games are going to pick up the slack is against what the club are suggesting is our plan. If we are in rebuild again and want to sit out of finals just say it so we can all get behind it. I'm not sure they are all on the same page even. The list management and footy department seem to bluff the executive who seem to have no idea about what's going on.

I never said I was unhappy about replacing the guys that you consider plodders either but you want to actually replace them with an upgrade and not rely on hope to make us better. The club lack planning or common sense at times, they still make a lot of amateur moves.

I can be sad for a kid who has lost his chance at a footy career completely separately to list management as well. He was probably not going to make it but we are going to have a lot of list spots this year and unless we can find an upgrade having him playing VFL wouldn't be the worst thing either.
