I think the two players that look like really good run and carry prospects will be long gone unfortunately. Tsatas will probably go in the top four live picks (should be in the mix for pick one IMO). McKenzie will go somewhere between 5-10. Ollie Hollands is more a Cottrell style player, good all round prospect though.

Personally I think giving Walsh a full year on the wing could have many benefits. Due to his small frame he doesn’t offer a heap at the centre bounces, I loved his ball winning as a high half forward in the middle of this year but the coaches saw his opponent getting free and doing some damage so didn’t continue with it. I’m also a bit worried about our best player getting banged up by playing on the ball too early like what happened to Josh Kelly. I think for the last six or so games we started to use the wing in a more attacking way so I hope we keep doing that but with a gun like Walsh there instead. Let the big boys duke it out on the ball.

I posted earlier in this thread that I reckon a dynamic game breaker type is the sort that can thrive under Voss and that’s exactly what those two are. I just feel that Humphrey can do everything that George can do in the forward line but has a dominant midfield game on top of it while George at the moment is more of a medium forward only. This could well lead to Humphrey going before our pick though, he looks like a terrific prospect to me. I would like to see us add another player who can tear a team to pieces though.
Thanks for the reply.

McKenzie seems linked to essendons pick, and probably more of a def/mid?

Humphrey looks good, something like a Darcy Fogarty but a midfield version. Set shots and kicking in general need some work though.

I’m with you re Walsh (and cerra for that matter). I think we already have two great wingman on our list. We just choose not to play them there. Do that, and instead of having the worst wings in the league, we’d have the best (as a duo).

In my opinion, I would be looking for a way to get two of Hewett, Weddle and George.

Few different ways of going about this, if we play our draft hand well, we could look at sliding back slightly from 10 and moving up with 28. Otherwise potentially using future picks.

Hewett is my first choice. Really think he could be something special, could play early days as a high half forward with small bursts in the midfield, but longer term I think he can transition to the dusty/petracca forward midfielder. He’s a strange one, cause if he gets past west coasts first pick, he could slide outside the top 10.

Weddle is one I’ve had a close eye on. His height is slightly deceptive, plays a lot taller than he’s listed. Think Sicily/Stewart. I really like his game, he is an excellent intercept mark, creative by foot and fills a role I think we lack. Can be that second general in the backline, slightly more defensive first minded, which will allow other halfbacks to get away with being more attacking.

George could be anything. I think he’s the one with the greatest gap between floor to ceiling. But has an X factor that we lack.

High half forwards/ wingman or goal kicking mids are all we really need in this draft….

No more defenders please!

Thanks Forty3, love your work!

Didnt we do that just a few years ago? Everyone was buzzing at the time, best deal ever, 3 years later and the two players have played 10 games between them.
Kemp before SDK (were we into C.Stephens as well)?) & then Philpy.

Was some noise we were looking to jump up to make a play on Young but no dice. Made a bid on Henry, maybe another player too, before sliding back on the night.

Would’ve got serong if Gold Coast didn’t get a pp

Bletch do you have a spreadsheet of eligible players? If so, where can we get this / can you share it?
I'm building one... Long way from finished. But sure.
Ok, here goes...

Suggestions welcome, but note, this is edited from a larger scale spreadsheet I'm working on (not in terms of number of players, more around tracking draft changes, and rankings. Data isn't complete, but it's mostly there for say the top 80 or so. There's around 240 players listed - most in their draft year, but a good number of older players. Players listed are there either because their name has come up as a draft prospect, or are otherwise of interest (e.g. NGA and Father/Son prospects, and a few with well-known relatives).

Rankings are calculated - you won't see it in this version, but I'm pulling data from a number of sources, and using a formula to calculate an approximate ranking. It's not a phantom draft, nor am I making any personal judgments on where a player might go in the draft (or not). Rankings will likely change a lot in coming weeks/months. There are several players I think will go high that are well down the list.

No guarantees that this is accurate, errors can creep in either from my data entry or original sources (some of which I've seen conflicting info).

Use at your own risk :)

Mods - my only real concern with this is if anyone might feel I'm stealing IP - I have pulled this from multiple published sources. If anyone feels this isn't kosher, please delete (or just ask me to).

Can't understand why anyone wants to see the back of Setters after those final two games. That midfield looked a lot more dangerous, unpredictable and balanced to me. Can try MK at CHF/HFF again imo, see how he goes. Doc and Setters in the midfield frees up other players to cover our wings. It makes so much sense. The players are already there and it allows us to focus on areas where we literally don't have the players - ie, medium forward, ruck.

You simply don't get rid of players as talented as Cunners, especially so when he is exactly what we need. What's it going to do? Free up a spot for a 4th round draft pick? No thanks. Unless Cunners' injuries reach a point where he loses the ability to perform, keep him.

Acres. Yawn. Would much rather keep a second rounder than trade it for Acres. Let's not forget, Freo are willing to let him go... Hope we leave him or give up very little.

No need to draft for wings this year.

We have a OBrien, Cottrel as back up and would look at training Carrol for that role next year.

We will get the 2 Campo’s next year.

We need a forward / mid who is damaging and can updgrade Owies! Honey role.

The rest of the draft should see a focus on developing KP stocks.
