Few comments on todays players:
Will Ashcroft: Very professional smart player. No Sam Walshor Nick Daicos. More Will Phillips at this level. Very good but a tad limited.PLAYERCARDSTART18Sam Walsh

PLAYERCARDEND
Pascu: Liked him. Obviously well built already, but has weapons with power, kicking penetration and especially liked his competitiveness.
Sheezel: If he is committed(i have no idea if he is, or not) he will be a top notch AFL player.
Rye Penny: Late draft smokey.
Cam Mackenzie: Didn't like.
Tsatas: Was expecting dynamism. Got a sneak up onya 30 posi game. No knock.
Jefferson: Prospect. More around 15-20 than 10 for me. No knock.
Gruzewski: had to be impressed withe 4 different styles of mark he took. Although that's about all he did. Interesting.
Lewis Hayes: Very impressed.
Binns: Impressive. Showed off an AFL game.
Jhye Clark: Felt he almost tried too hard early. Settled and played a tough AFL pro style of play.
Hollands. Very impressed. Reminded me of watching Hugh Mc at the same age without maybe the goal power.
Burgiel. No knocks. Quite impressed.
Brennan. Didn't like.
Harley Reid: Outstanding. Best player out there. In 2nd gear too.
Humphrey: The classic boom or bust. Outstanding yet question marky.
Cadman: Almost a sure thing AFL forward. Just a matter of good or excellent one.
Murdoch: Impressive i thought.
Hustwaite: Didn't like.
For us on today's game:
Would happily use Pick 10 on probable candidates:
Hollands: Great running partner for Walshy to share the burden with down the track.
Hayes: Quality KPD well worth the pick.
Humphrey: Think we're in good enough list shape to take the punt if other 2 are gone.
Also watched about a dozen yearly highlight vids of top endish prospects. Ones that caught my eye for comment relative to expectation:
Cowan: was the one that impressed me. Would use a 20's pick on him.
Elijah Hewett: was the one that didn't. Wouldn't use a pick before 20.
There seems to be some good mid fielders who will go early & with Cadman the stand out forward.Hayes I think will be taken early by someone. Looks like his game will translate well and is only eligible by a couple of weeks so has huge upside

There’s also Wardlaw and Ginbey who Twomey touted top 10.
Personally I think either Hayes or Busslinger will be available if we want them.

Does seem very even. Reid was probably the most exciting player out there imo but someone like Hayes is only 4 months older then Reid so his upside is huge. Someone like Hayes is more Reid’s age then he is Cadman, Jefferson’s, Busslinger etc. There seems to be some good mid fielders who will go early & with Cadman the stand out forward.
lt looks pretty even between 8-15 so anything is possible, Busslinger from WA is also rated highly as the best key position defender.
Hayes is a good chance at our pick.
Austin over the past 2 years has had no list management pressure. He has tinkered around the edges on draft day.
Picking 10, 28 and 64 will not provide enough scope to fill our list holes before this group enters the veteran stage.
Austin needs to throw the marbles against the wall and trade to achieve 5 picks in the top 40 by using future picks, taking on a salary dump or trading a player.
If we walk out with Acres and 3 draftees, that is a fail for mine

That is not factual most of our top end players are 22-25, compare that to some of the better teams we are in a good place.Austin over the past 2 years has had no list management pressure. He has tinkered around the edges on draft day.

Not really sure how we are even close to the veteran stage. We were the younger team in 17/22 of our matches and on average were like the 5th or 6th youngest team all year.Austin over the past 2 years has had no list management pressure. He has tinkered around the edges on draft day.

We differ in opinion on a few things, but I am in furious agreement with this. The 2 most composed players yesterday were Hayes and Edmends. Both were one touch, seem to make great decisions and hit targets with ease
Edmends is criminally underrated

Hadn't seen mention of Edmends.
So he's a wingman? What's his draft range?
Great summary TW. Take runners, runners, runners for mine. (Hard nut ones with good skills on both sides!) Seriously though, it sounds like there are plenty of options across most positions this year which bodes well for getting a decent kid at 10Few comments on todays players:

I don't know if you've posted it before but interested in seeing your top 10 ArrOw.Rate Ashcroft around pick 6, but that makes no difference
Yes, the draft is very even

I'm a exponent upgrading our 2nd R pick, structure p28 + player to an early 2nd, it would be a better position for us.Mentioned Edmends a while back. Yes a wingman, natural elite user on both feet, composed beyond his years, never panics
Mid 20s pick
