"Veteran stage"
We may only have 1 player over 30 on our list next season.
I don't know if you've posted it before but interested in seeing your top 10 ArrOw.
Agree and that's what I've being banging on about, so far the noise has not been inspirational given player availability this trade period.Austin over the past 2 years has had no list management pressure. He has tinkered around the edges on draft day.
Picking 10, 28 and 64 will not provide enough scope to fill our list holes before this group enters the veteran stage.
Austin needs to throw the marbles against the wall and trade to achieve 5 picks in the top 40 by using future picks, taking on a salary dump or trading a player.
If we walk out with Acres and 3 draftees, that is a fail for mine
Austin made it clear 12 months ago that that they would be going to the draft this year, which seems the most logical direction.Agree and that's what I've being banging on about, so far the noise has not been inspirational given player availability this trade period.
I like Nick Austin's work in sourcing and drafting good youngsters and established mature talent,so far, he's done OK, safe and steady perhaps to appease administration and or supporter base?
I think he's got a good nose for talent , will be diligent and may be keeping cards very close to the chest, this time around.
Overall Nick can rely on great guidance in Sayers & Cook great brains to steer the ship. were in good hands but crying out for X factor.

Trading out future picks is a terrible idea. And it's not just that next year's draft is rated higher than this year (although it likely is). We've deferred decisions on a number of players this year by handing out a few one-year contracts. We've done this because we don't have a great draft hand. To steal picks from next year will only put us in the same position again next year.Austin over the past 2 years has had no list management pressure. He has tinkered around the edges on draft day.

With all due respects I would suggest that if we go down that path (which looks the most likely option) the judgemental to whether it was a success or failure will be judged on how those players fare in the long run.Austin over the past 2 years has had no list management pressure. I like rhetorical questions!Or are you just setting the ground to be able to complain?
It is too late to fill list holes when our good players are 28+. We need to hit the draft hard now so the drafted players come of age when the stars are under 30"Veteran stage"

I am saying we have too many list holes to fill to win a premiership and we need to fill them quickly. I find our supporter base incredibly complacent given we finished 9th and went 4 and 8 in the back half of the season. The club needs to run harder and the supporter base needs to demand more and stop sitting back and think things will fall into placeWith all due respects I would suggest that if we go down that path (which looks the most likely option) the judgemental to whether it was a success or failure will be judged on how those players fare in the long run.
Do you actually mean that if we win the flag next year with #10 and pick #28 playing key roles and Acres winning the norm Smith you would consider our off season a failure?
Or are you just setting the ground to be able to complain?
You miss the point carlton needs to infuse the list with young talent that mature before curnow, mckay, cripps, weitering hit the veteran stage. We can not wait 2 or 3 drafts. It is later than you thinkLucky there's a draft next year....and the year after....and the year after....and trading to backfill gaps in the list profile.
Colour me surprised that you're already posturing to declare our offseason a failure.
Our best players are mid 20s. This years draftees will mature and fill list holes when curnow, mckay and cripps and writering are 28+. It is later than you thinkNot really sure how we are even close to the veteran stage. We were the younger team in 17/22 of our matches and on average were like the 5th or 6th youngest team all year.
Our list is far from a few finishing touches away from a premiership. It lacks transition class all over the park.Minimum we require: 1 attacking great kicking wingman, 1 outside mid 1 great kicking hard runnig half back flank, 1 key position back, 1 raynor, stuart dew type half fwd flank a better ruck. That is 4 or 5 players and we can not wait 2 or 3 drafts if they are to mature while our good players are under 30. Premiership windows open slowly but close fastThat is not factual most of our top end players are 22-25, compare that to some of the better teams we are in a good place.
Our list overall is in good shape, just needs some finishing touches which is achievable in this draft & trade period.

l believe most of us have a different view to yourself, maybe you need to provide examples of how we can obtain picks inside 30 this year and giving away future picks in a strong draft does not seem a smart decision at all.I am saying we have too many list holes to fill to win a premiership and we need to fill them quickly. sell while he's on top at least we'll get the extra first round picks this year.List Management by MJ, who had Cripps finished as a footballer

No current season stats available
Yes I did but you leave out I had Le Giudace, Liddle and Teague out the door in 2020, when most were on the fence. You are still 3 years later convincing everyone, that it is all Roses by constantly moving your timeline forward. My perspective is positive and proactive Go hard, Go aggressive and Go early at the draft. Most of the rest, and I assume yourself, take the passive, soft, standard 3 draft pick approach- which is closer to a negative view on club management.Oh wow we're doomed!
