If you're praising what is historically worst recruiting team in the AFL, while bagging out us, maybe you should possibly reconsider your opinions.

Just a thought.
Why should I give a figg what their draft history is like, don't know, don't care. It would be disingenuous for that to influence my opinion on what they managed in the last two nights. They killed it. At any rate, let's not call the kettle black.

Couldn’t give a rats toss bag what any other team did, very happy with our choices, some may consider them ‘vanilla’ a bit like Sam Walsh………..yeh na.

Really stoked with our draft...

We got our players we wanted... Our outside & balanced mids and a KPF who was touted as a potential pick #1 at stages last year (slid for reasons) while keeping our future first...

Austin and Co are stars, up there with the best in the business... :blueheart:

Binns was the one I wanted with our second pick can seriously play.
Agree with Pommy re Cowan stoked with this selection.
Lemmey could be one of the best tall taken in this draft or be a bust, really happy with this selection.
All in all, a good night for us. 👍

We passed on our last pick, and are intending to use it on rookie’ing Ed.

Question. Is he worth it anymore? Would we have been better off going for more youth, another KPP?
We’ve just drafted two endurance beasts, we also traded in acres for the wing. Do we need Ed anymore? Endurance beast was his thing. What will he offer next year for us?
It’s sad but true. I love Ed but fear this makes sense. A developing ruck would pose the “smarter” option you’d suspect. I also tend to think TDK might not be a Carlton player in 12 months so 12 months development might be crucial in a 200cm kid

Here's an alternative point of view:
-They selected with pick 10 a player that was projected to go 10-15, because he's a massive flog and very inconsistent, but got people excited because noted recruiting geniuses Essendon became interested with pick 4.
-They picked up a tall athlete with mediocre on field performance with pick 31
-They selected a player projected to go 15-30 with pick 35. Not a massive slide in an even draft. A guy who plays a bit forward, a bit in the middle but does neither particularly well.
- They picked a club linked key forward with pick 44. A player whose linked club has a terrible list but still thought he was too shit to take the last spot on their list even though he was totally free at that point.

Who will be right? Only time will tell.

Cowan is our best get at his pick but overall, our strategy baffles me. Playing it ultra safe the one moment then speculating wildly the next. Will Cowan develop into something more important to our structure than a not so quick HPF? If we think we desperately need more run, what makes Binns a better bet than Hotton? Is Lemmey's level of upside really that good because he looks totally disinterested. I would have preferred we split the Binns pick, TBH.

Hi Carlton fans.

I had you for our mock draft.

I took
Weddle, Binns and Lemmey for you.
So pretty close. Weddle was a personal favourite so I took him early.

Looks like you have addressed the outside endurance need with your picks.

Best,
Chop

fair effort!

"Apparently" if we had traded back with the Swans for 14 and 17 (wanted massive overs), we supposedly would have taken Weddle and Allan
Well considering the crazy deal they got from the Hawks, the Swans were right to ask for massive overs.

For those flipping out don't stress. I have been watching the draft closely for 15 years. There have been heaps of times where I have been disappointed by a selection that turned out great and vice versa. You can't make any definitive conclusions at this stage.

That said, I like our selections.
A good point. People were doing virtual high fives, air kisses, and the whole works in here after the Matthew Watson draft. Full points to anyone who can name the talls we took in that draft (without doing a Google search). We supposedly smashed it.
