Yep, body language and facial expression. You notice the body language as well. Crossed his arms when talking about Lemmy firstly so indicates a bit of defensiveness ????

That's a really interesting picture: three endurance beasts with similar characteristics without being completely the same (Hollands classy with some inside game, Cowan with accumulation and endurance, Binns with a superboot and goalsense) and a highly rated KPF in need of more instant development who has played defense and is good kicking inside 50. Ed getting rerookied is also interesting.
This suggests that the coaching group still thinks we're short around the ball, that we don't have the transition or the wings just right, and - more importantly - that we're genuinely not running out games and are vulnerable defensively in transition. There's now real pressure for spots on the wing, even if there's not really on the forward flanks (which is something I had really hoped for in this draft) but to an extent that's compensated for by improvement in Durdin, Motlop and Cuningham's recovery (fingers crossed, touch wood and salt thrown over my left shoulder).
It also suggests that they don't see Carroll as a wing, as if they did why would they draft 3 potential alternates and trade in Acres?
I'm content with this. I'll be very interested in how we start up next year, how we structure up in the reserves, where they start off Lemmey, where Kemp plays. I really want them to push Kemp inside the stoppage in reserves, resting him up forward as required to get him into midfield form because - and I say this with love - I do not see him as any other position than an AFL mid. Take advantage of his X-factor and put him into the centre as the rotating dynamic midfielder, exhaust him every game until it starts to click, then throw him into the mix in the ones.
They're also backing the key defenders to all stay fit, which is suuuuuper interesting. Hopefully it means something's changed.
It's interesting that you discuss Kennedy's drop off of form before his injury. You've misread my comment: I've said I'm given the impression that he made strong demands of recruiters, and dismissed the efforts of his coaching staff to deliver solutions to his issues.
Repeatedly tried to ditch O'Brien, tried to fall back on Newnes, brought in Acres, refused to use Walsh there, drafted two more options. There's examples in other parts of the ground too, including the total unwillingness to play Dow, even when Kennedy's form fell away before injury.
Walsh and LOB for the rest, mix up the centre square and general stoppage mix.
Assuming the upgrade, we're 36/6/1, so it checks out that this is what transpired.
I think Hollands was a shade off the best value on the board, Cowan was solid, Binns was average, Lemmey was high value.
There's a lot of angles there that can't be readily surmised with the info we have. Speaks smartly, but that's a shallow assessment from our perspective.
You have to look into if he has a chip on his shoulder due to being constantly challenged, the nature of that, etc. Also need to see what exactly he's driving for if he wants that kind of exposure and spotlight... does he want to change the industry for the better? What's the rhetoric and ideas there?
Most clubs will probably roll their eyes and move on, but the AFL isn't exactly a progressive space a lot of the time, so we don't exactly know which extreme he's at.
Might be time for the VFL to become its own enterprise now, with the ability to generate revenue and

Anyone know where the Camporeale boys rated?
More like the Davey twins or J Fletcher level?
BTW More running wingers hey!
Lucas is rated very highly, in National Academy. Brother Ben is not. Both are “rated”, but Lucas more so. Still a couple of years away. I am waiting on Cody Walker a bit later (not sure if one or two years later).Anyone know where the Camporeale boys rated?

Our picks vs consensus:How it panned out:
How it panned out:
We definitely drafted for need early, Hollands, Cowan and Binns every chance to full needs on wing/defence long term.
Lemmey (or as I now will call him, Motorhead) is a long term pick. It's not the next 12 months that matter for him it's the next 3 to 5.
Looked like he was leading in one of the repeat 400s the other day, so back to full fitness perhaps.I agree, and think there's every chance he's in the side round 1. Personally I'd have him on a wing opposite Acres and expect him to be used as sub quite a bit.
Exactly!!!@!should have taken........
HBFReally happy with our draft, addresses our poor running and ball movement issues. I wanted a dynamic/hybrid forward like Sheezle or Phillipou, but with hindsight, Kemp, Cunners, Kennedy and Ed could all fill this role.
Lachie Cowan is the exciting one, not sure what position he plays, but Tassie captain, Morrish Medalist, All- Australian and still only 17.
Has got some nick Riewoldt about himWe definitely drafted for need early, Hollands, Cowan and Binns every chance to full needs on wing/defence long term.

Just wondering, as we only took Ed.C. with one rookie pick and we had two picks left after the Nat draft, so is it possible they could have players training with the club to look at them for the draft just before the season starts....is it the supplementary draft, as someone(?) was mentioning that Carlton were looking at another young project ruckman even though Mirkov is already there!!! Mentioned O`Keefe from the Chargers and Tucker from Eastern Ranges.....just seeing if anyone has heard.Agree lads missing out would be disconcerted and very disappoint not getting a go, hopefully some other pathway opens for them to fullfill their dreams of playing AFL footy.
Half of the media “experts” had us grabbing Busslinger for needs. We do not have a need, at least not over and above run, connection and a KPF development player. It is a myth. With list sizes, we can’t have every position covered twice.Would have liken us to have taken a young KPD prospect in the draft, but it seems like this draft was light on in that department..
Very content with our draft haul overall though.

Sam Durdin is adequate depth, given we have young KPD and realistically do not require the next generation for 5-7 years.
Marchbank is an “undersized” KPD, as is Kemp, just coming in to his own. We are not bereft of options back there. Lemmey is the right sort of pick, he offers the potential for Leviesque coverage forward, back and ruck. If he comes on quickly, he will become a real option as second ruck, third tall in a couple of years.
We have this season to assess exactly how effective Durdin is as an option, we get the opportunity to see if Marchy can stay on the park (I am astounded at so many posters leaving him out of best 22’s), he is elite if can get on the park consistently. Kemp is our conundrum, can play in “any third” how much upside and in which position?
It really was not the year to take a developing KPD. We have hopefully “future proofed” our midfield and forward line as we needed to. A potential rucking option as so many are screaming for. (With Pitto, TDK, Mirkov, Young, S.Durdin, Lemmey, Big H to do more Hawkins forward rucking, and JSOS ready and able to pinch hit, we are covered, even Acres did a season in the JSOS role at St.K. and in a couple of games in his first year at Freo)
Let’s assess our tall defence for a year and plan when we get another tall from there, we may be set for three or four years, allowing us to move through multiple drafts waiting for a budget priced gem for our next generation, rather than being forced to grab a “maybe” option.
Cowan adds to the progression with our small/medium defenders being our oldest line. Dutch and Jaxon are both outside leaning mids, with proven inside effectiveness and importantly hardness. We move in to the luxury stage of adding “cream” through future drafts as well as the Camporeale father/sons followed by Cody Walker and potentially a couple of others. We are “set” for the best part of ten years (particularly by Geelong metrics)
Lucas is the more highly rated, but I expect him to injure his shoulder in 2024 and slide to late in the draftAnyone know where the Camporeale boys rated?

Phillipou & Keeler already booked their tickets on The Overland for Sept 2024.Saints drafting look very good on paper.
Phillipou was a mini slider.
They went very early on Van Es
They got a steal in Hotton.
They got a bargain in Keeler.
Of course none of that matters as being drafted by the Saints usually condemns you to a career of mediocrity and irrelevance...

Thanks, this is more or less what I thought was the case based on what I'd read, though wasn't 100% sure if that was right.I think Hollands was a shade off the best value on the board, Cowan was solid, Binns was average, Lemmey was high value.
