An interesting trade-bid scenario - is there anything which forbids a team who bid on a player (e.g NGA) from trading picks with the team the bid relates to?

E.g. Bulldogs rate Davey, so bid on him with pick 24 - Bulldogs then trade pick 39, 68 & a future pick(s) for Essendon's pick 25?
I understand a nudge nudge handshake deal is probably worked out beforehand, but still it would be an interesting scenario and potentially a bad look for the AFL.

Is the idea that we then trade back for your pick or?

guess the question would be what f2 you can send us to make up for the additional one you get in order for us to look past the fact you cost us one this year.

Should be nothing stopping that. Dogs use their pick to maximise their draft hand.
might not work if you bid on a Geelong player, and you might find that Bont is now registered with the cats. and the bid was cancelled.

GWS' trade/draft so far is not looking great to me. That Sydney bid and then taking Konstanty was brutal. Need to nail their next 2 picks.

Out- Pick 3, Tim Taranto, Jacob Hopper, Tanner Bruhn, Bobby Hill, Pick 21, GWS F2

In- Aaron Cadman, Harry Rowston, Darcy Jones, Pick 19(22), Pick 31(34), RichF1

taken a massive hit with unders for the players they lost, losing a late 1st rd pick and giving up a bit to get Cadman (which I didn't think necessary).

May I just say THANK YOU AFL for bringing back the tracker. I was at work and could not follow the coverage so the tracker was really helpful.
Can't believe they dumped it for 2/3 years. Was crazy.

I can see GWS potentially trading 22.

If they can turn it into a mid-high future first or a couple of future seconds (Adelaide?) it may be worth more.

Nobody is giving up an F1. Teams that might consider it are West Coast (29 plus Port F2) and Essendon (25 and F2 if we get 51 back)

I actually think the media over plays the importance of the 1st pick in the second round. It’s just another pick.

Only really became a talking point when the draft was split over two days.

It's actually the most overvalued pick in the draft. Teams pay a premium for it.

Watched more highlights of Allen. Super impressed. The speed and acceleration. Launching the pill with both feet. Can play In the guts and on the outside. Can use him up front and in defence. Jack of all trades really. Looks really quite competitive passionate and spirited like his ol' man as well. Can't wait to watch him develop over the next 10-15.

Great start for us.

Who's tipped to go around the 28-30 mark tonight? Who are we interested in?

The likely situation here would be we tell Bombers we’re bidding at 24 and they swap us 25 & a pick for 24 so they get in a pick before Davey bid. Effectively creating pick 24 for them that they otherwise wouldn’t have - would be interesting to see what value that’s worth to them.

Nothing to stop that as they’re literally just trading in ahead of a bid which is standard practise

Something like 25 + F2 for 24 + F3 would probably do it

Think Pies should be targeting Keeler or Barnett with their next pick. Plenty of highly rated prospects still on the table though
