I think there were games this year in which the Dogs were crap but Dunkley still played reasonably well. Maybe I’ve got it wrong, but I really like this characteristic in a player. The total opposite of a front-runner.

Personally I hadn’t paid that much attention to Dunkley before the past couple of weeks. After watching him I now think he would be our natural captain.

I don’t want him here propping up Ken.

Very consistent

Fourteen SANFL players have been invited to attend the South Australian NAB AFL State Draft Combine on Saturday October 15.

The list is headlined by mature-aged prospects, with six attendees having already represented their clubs at SANFL League level this season.
Central District defender Rhett Montgomerie currently sits equal-second in the Hostplus SANFL League for marks and equal-third for contested marks, whilst also averaging 14.6 disposals at a handy 79% efficiency.
North Adelaide livewire Frank Szekely has thrived in a new role allowing him to roam higher up the ground, averaging a career-high 19.3 disposals at 88% efficiency whilst booting 13 goals in 16 League games.
Szekely, 22, starred for the Roosters in their round 13 victory over Port Adelaide, booting two goals and accumulating 26 disposals, 10 marks and seven inside-50s.
Sturt’s Tom Emmett made his League debut in Round six and has since looked at home in the Double Blues’ forward-line, booting at least one goal in seven-straight matches.

Norwood goalsneak Baynen Lowe, 19, has played an important role in the Redlegs’ strong run of form, booting 18 goals in 13 matches, including two bags of four against Central and Port.
Recently making their League debut, West Adelaide ruckman Oscar Steene and ball-magnet Kobe Ryan are among four Bloods to receive an invite, alongside defender Oscar Kregar and ruckman Darcy Minchella.
Glenelg will be represented by three junior prospects in running machine Lachlan Scannell and on-ballers Jake Walker and Archie Lovelock.
Also included among the invite list are other Torrens University SA U18 squad members Shaun Bennier (North Adelaide), Kyle Marshall (South Adelaide) and Brodie Tuck (Central District).
Players invited to the NAB AFL State Draft Combine received two nominations from AFL clubs.
The SA State Combine will be held from 10am at the University of South Australia’s Mawson Lakes campus, where players will have their physical dimensions measured before undertaking 20m sprint, agility and jump tests.

Im surprised lovelock and walker are state combines. I'd take them over mcentee!

Theres an article on the afl site about the possibility of trading pick 1. Says Ashcroft goes 1 ..so its really trading pick 2. Wardlaw consensus pick but has been injured for much of the year. Names Tsatas, Clark, Mackenzie, Sheezel as alternatives...with Cadman as anothet possibility maybe slightly lower.

Chuck in Phillipou and Busslinger that makes 9 low risk picks...Hewett makes 10. Our pick is either 8 or 9. It looks 👌. Hopefully we dont trade back a few spots for a mars bar. I really think we get Busslinger or Phillipou.

Give us the Pou please, smooth mover, already 191cms with some room to grow to 193-194 (Cripps/Bont) and CAN kick. Surely Bussy gone before we hit the board? Take the best tall option with the Amon compo, Hayes/Broadbent/Lemmy.

Just listened to Philipou’s interview on SEN. Speaks so well, and his highlights show a player who will be a definite midfield-forward weapon.
Not sure we’d get him with pick 8, but I’d take him there if we could. He would “complete” our drafting of high end midfield talent for at least the next 3-4 years (Rozee, Butters, Philipou, Duursma, maybe Sinn as another wingman if he comes good). I think I’d prefer him more than Dunkley this year, who we might be able to get as a FA next year.

We can get both as mentioned before. We are not trading this year’s 1st and he will be there with our pick. Dunkley next year's 1st at worse gets that done.

Am I right that his dad was 50 games short of him being a Port F/S ? Seems he played 106 for the Eagles and 44 for Port.

What do Port want?

I think we could trade up to get him, Rozee style.

Gold Coast will get Adelaide’s pick 4 and already have pick 8. We could give up our first (7) and another asset to move up to 4.

Gold Coast have 7 and we have 8. We finished ahead of them.

Adelaide have 5.

Don't think we need to trade up big chance Phillipou gets through if Adelaide trade pick 5.
If not we will still get a gun top 10 pretty strong this yr.

I’m happy with the level of talent that will be around our first pick.

We would have to be extremely unlucky for none of Clark, phillipou busslinger or hewett to be there.

I know there’s a lot of interest here in going for Hayes with the Amon compo, and that’s a reasonable idea, but man there’s going to be some high end key forwards available around that pick.

Obviously not all, but some out of the lemmey, keeler, Scully, Jefferson cadman or Barnett camp just has to be available there. That’s too good a chance to pass up for me.

One of

- Clark / phillipou

Then one of

- Keeler / lemmey / Jefferson /

With our first two picks

Then go after a key defender and small / medium forward with our later picks

Then rookie another key defender like Brodie lake / bennier and another small / medium forward.
