Just watched McCallum’s highlights, although, not the player I expected…

His highlights show some safe hands, he didn’t double grab any marks and has decent leap.

I can see him working on Port’s backline setup. Zoning off and floating into contests.
Reminds me of Tom Jonas only 2” taller.
 
So, do we go “key” defender again, whatever that means in a Nathan Bassett coached backline where height is just an illusion?

We like a key defender who can push forward and kick a goal more than a key defender who simply concentrates on stopping goals. McCallum does that.

Jonas last 5 seasons 100 games 0.1
Clurey last 5 seasons 82 games 0.0
Mckenzie last 5 seasons 40 games 1.2
Aliir last 2 seasons 43 games 0.2

The one we let go, Dougal Howard kicked 10.6 from 15 games his last season at Port. No idea how many he kicked from the back lines.

We like back flankers who push forward and kick goals - or have shots on goal.
