Now that horrible trade period is over -what picks do we have, and can someone please explain how picks can be traded on draft night and can we realistically improve our position?

The only picks that matter are the ones we’ll use being 16, 25, 27. (Which will also mean delisting Poulter I think?)

They’ll all get pushed back with Father Sons (Ashcroft, Davey, Fletcher) to varying degrees.

I’m predicting it will be 17, 27, 29.

I don’t really see any obvious ways to trade up at the moment given the picks each respective club holds. Especially given the fact we’ve already traded out our future second and third.

But that could all change if other clubs start swapping around picks in the lead up to the draft.

We've got three picks with value 16, 25 and 27

Rather than trading up, I think we'll try to trade one of them into next year's draft. But will need a buyer willing to give us a future second - I think it'll be a draft night move as that's when you might get good value if someone is still on the board who their club really rates.

Probably just take two, plus Noble's upgrade; so either 'up' if there's someone like Lemmey they really want with the second pick, or 'out' to bolster '23 picks, as you said.

I don’t think he even does that. Someone compares a players traits to a superstar and he suddenly thinks that player is their literal clone.

Cadmans the standout key forward sure. But suddenly he’s become the best key forward ever to come through the draft.

He’d be some way behind Schache, Boyd, Patton etc if you were to put them all in the same draft.

No he is not. Cadman is a far better prospect than any of those. His movement alone is far superior and don’t get me started in his footy IQ compared to the others. Some of the little things he does at speed is impressive.

Geez, all those guys had a turning circle of a Mack Truck. And you could forget about the ball once it hit the deck. The only thing he doesn’t have against any of those guys is their size. But he might add a couple more centimeters and that would be enough.

And I do suspect that Cadman will be around a hell of a lot longer than any of them. Only Schache remains and he is on his last legs.

Yeah, somewhere along the way he just turns prospect x into a reincarnation of Jeremy Cameron (Cadman), or Dangerfield (JHF).

Just watch what JHF produces at the Power. This kid is a bonifide star. Don’t look at what happened at the Paupers as anything more than a poorly run club not being able to meet the standards of a kid.

Look at what was happening here with Nick. You do realize the likes of Adams, Steele and Crisp were ignoring him and were not giving him the ball early on. It wasn’t until they realized that a 19 year old kid was our best disposer of a football. What saved Nick was that we have a better development and coaching department than the Paupers. Not to mention a better culture now with Fly.

To be a fly on the wall of Mackie and the recruiting stuff room if they miss out on Clark lol

A quickly put together post-player exchange period phantom draft for your reading pleasure, not my final one FWIW. There's a bit of this that's fairly well informed but as is natural so far out from the draft there's a lot of guessing work involved, and like I've said previously the names are easy enough to find a range for, but figuring out which club goes what way is a challenge.

Been rewatching some footage recently with the U18's season done and have become slightly more optimistic about the depth of the draft, but still believe that a lot of the guys I see as first round candidates would more than likely be second round types in other years. I'm expecting to see some bolters on the night though given that 'evenness' around 15 onwards, guys like Ed Allan and Darcy Jones may be taken a touch higher given their testing, clubs are likely to see a lot of development in fully unlocking that athletic ability on field and fancy themselves a chance.

I think our needs from the draft are key forward, small forward and half back speedster with a mature aged ruckman coming through the rookie draft or elsewhere.

What do posters think - in relation to key forwards - and assuming Cadman is gone by our 1st pick - of Jefferson, Keeler, Barnett & Lemmey, respectively? I am sure that some of those will still be around at Pick 16 (or perhaps even 17, 18 or 19 given the knock-on effects of various father-son selections). Goodnight & good luck.

I think we’ll have to agree to disagree regarding Cadman and his respective relative ranking against other key forwards to have come through the draft. He’s been nowhere near as dominant.

That’s not to say he won’t be better, as I agree he has more tools than some others. But that’s said with both the benefit of hindsight and without the exposure of Cadman at AFL level.

As for JHF well I watched heaps of his draft year in the SANFL. My comments about his pure strengths and glaring deficiencies can be found pretty easily.

Personally I think we go best available at 16. Then hopefully we use 25 and/or 27 to take swings at key forward targets.

I’ve still got this feeling Lemmey will go second round. Sure he had a shocking year, but recruiters would have been tracking him for multiple years, and know the talent he still has.

Pick 16 - Keeler or Hayes.

Pick 25 - D’Aloia, Kobe Ryan, Mitch Alphabet, Charlie Clarke, Lachie Cowan or Darcy Jones.

Pick 27 - Lemmey.

Draft Done!

Really like Hayes with 16 sets us up down back if he comes on in the next 2 years.

Love to get Hollands if Hayes isn't available he reminds me of Sidebottom.

I think hollands could go quite early.

Wouldn’t be surprised if Geelong take him or Humphrey if Clark is gone.

Good chance they take Hollands if Clarke isn't available.

They will get the brother aswell from the feeder club.
