To be a fly on the wall of Mackie and the recruiting stuff room if they miss out on Clark lol

It would be quite funny if Gold Coast took him before Geelong.

The to stick the knife in further, given he’s a mad Collingwood nuffy we could then be the ones this time to get in his ear to request a trade to the club he loves.

The ideal pick ups for Collingwood would be:

Pick 16 - Hayes

Pick 25 - Keeler

Pick 27 - Lemmey

Similar to what Carlton did in 2015 with Weitering, McKay and Curnow. That's the spine sorted for the next the 10 years.

If Geelong gets him and Hine rates him then we absolutely should be in the ear of Clark from day one.

I'd be disappointed if we didn't at least make the effort.

I've only read his profile but Keeler is a little bit undersized for ruck at AFL level (198cm) isn't he? Similar to Begg too maybe more a fwd than ruck? Looking at the images of him on line though he looks like a young Paddy Ryder!

He could definitely be someone we look at based on GW's comments on the website last night. Acknowledged we had lost ruck depth with Grundy going out and taking a ruck in the ND or over summer in the SSP may be an option.

I reckon they’ll turn him into a KD.

Possibly. Here are some of his highlights as a key defender (Mainly against Keeler) late in the season at u18.

Switched forward late.

But I still think he’d be better as a key forward. These are good highlights that show those often talked about Nick Riewoldt type traits.

Lemmey and Scully getting drafted is all about how they test.

If they don't have good speed and agility for a tall I expect them to go the same as Callow.

I think we’ll have to agree to disagree regarding Cadman and his respective relative ranking against other key forwards to have come through the draft. He’s been nowhere near as dominant.

That’s not to say he won’t be better, as I agree he has more tools than some others. But that’s said with both the benefit of hindsight and without the exposure of Cadman at AFL level.

As for JHF well I watched heaps of his draft year in the SANFL. My comments about his pure strengths and glaring deficiencies can be found pretty easily.

Rankings of ManChilds against kids in a competition that is pretty much compromised most of the time. The real trick is to identify whether those so called KPP can actually cut the mustard in the big league. And apart from dominating their peers, they really had some poor attributes.

Anyone who thought Schache was ever a top 10 pick must have missed his activation or reaction time to action. Patton and Boyd had grey matter issues but of differing nature. And all three lacked the understanding of what it really required to become a bonafide AFL top 10 player.

And none of them are Cadman skilled. GWS are getting themselves a player. Not sure what the Paupers are planning. But if they don’t take Wardlaw and Sheezle they are out of their minds. If they could also get Hewett. Now that would be a midfield to compare with the likes of the Brions of the 2000’s.

‘Anyone’?… As in every recruiting team in the country?

Also the draft is all about ranking against peers.

Anyway we’ll have to disagree.

I like the idea of Hollands… his running compliments Fly’s game plan

But i think GC will take Hollands with pick 5… might be a bit early… but the GC focus will be on recruiting players they can retain…

the thought being 2x Hollands are more likely to settle up in the GC than 1x Hollands

As for the pies at pick 16… with Dean, Frampton, Kelly…

I don’t think we need a KPD in Hayes

Huswaite seems unnecessary given we have McInness already as the tall, big bodied mid

Hotton seems Jamie Elliot like… so that’s probably where I’m leaning if he’s as expected available and no one better has slid down on draft night

I still think we'll take hayes at 16 and Keeler at 25, that would give us developing book ends. Unless Hollands is there at 16, which I doubt
Like some have said, the crows may take Keeler

I reckon some team will make a bid on Davey prior to Essendon’s pick 22.

If that happens our later picks won’t get pushed back any further.

Great write up.

I heard NM want to move pick 3 cause they are keen on Jefferson… hence the attempt to trade it for Clarke and pick 9

I think NM still split that pick 3 and take Jefferson in the top 10-12

Sounds good in theory, except they were picking from desirable areas of the draft. I shutter to think about us doing that in our range and ending up with a trio that reflect
Will Kelly
Liam McMahon
Sam McClarty

Yeah, North would be looking for a forward, but if it doesn't pan out I don't think Jefferson getting to us is totally out of the question. There's always going to be clubs not looking for a forward and also the talk of players not wanting to leave their state, maybe he is one interstate clubs might be wary of. Wishful thinking I suppose. If he gets past Melbourne's pick we could be a show.

Oli Hotton is a clever player that could be good for us, Cowan is raw but I reckon he potentially fits our game plan perfectly and could also be good. Weddle and Hayes look solid. I'm not keen on Keeler.
