At no stage did I question the talent or the deal. try learning to read.
Wow. Getting Rankine is pretty special.
Try re reading. Its not special in terms of a sales pitch. its got nothing to do with the deal or Rankine.
Lord have mercy, you were being serious....

So who would you have liked them to target other than Rankine?
It's still special.Try re reading. Its not special in terms of a sales pitch. its got nothing to do with the deal or Rankine.

Like who without eating into next year's draft collateral?I never said to get someone else did I? Not once did I question the deal or the player. I am looking for the club to be able to attract interest from others that we could have traded for this trade period on top of.
Not like any of us on here didnt know this, but this article is still worrying. To my mind, we should just forget these days about recruiting from Vic Metro...which basically means we lose access to a population of what, 4.5-5m people? Also, Crows aside, what would be so friggin bad about living in Sydney or on the Gold Coast? Players are hardly being moved to Horsham!

‘Fewer players to choose from’: Flight risks affecting AFL draft
A growing number of players are unwilling to be drafted to clubs outside their home states, and according to one recruiting boss, some are even outright saying that they want to avoid moving interstate in pre-draft discussions.www.theage.com.au
Kind of amazing how quickly the whole league has reduced the value of players like Crouch.
If nobody takes him as an unrestricted free agent, will we delist him?
I would still think he is good enough to be on AFL list.
You have to think the AFL will have to impose new rules .....they shouted "Draft Tampering" ten years ago .....now silence .....competition equalization now officially a jokeThe only way to solve this issue is by giving clubs to power to trade players to whatever club makes the best offer.
It should have been what they players had to give up prior in order for free agency to be introduced.
Not best 22 sure, but not even mature depth?Defensive pressure is all the rage. It's easy to find players that don't win quite as much ball but can at least defend.
The AFL isn't interested in the one way player any more unless they're elite offensively
The rules on who you can have in your VFL squad are much looser than the SANFL, they don't need to be AFL listedNot best 22 sure, but not even mature depth?
Clubs like north and hawthorn can use him in his reserves side to help stop them getting pumped every week
You might still want him for injury cover in the sanfl. There are worse mids than Crouch still in the leagueThe rules on who you can have in your VFL squad are much looser than the SANFL, they don't need to be AFL listed
Should we have thrown buckets of cash at Jumbo Ravioli like Port?I never said to get someone else did I? Not once did I question the deal or the player. I am looking for the club to be able to attract interest from others that we could have traded for this trade period on top of.
also now clear why we didnt get hopper we offered 4 years richmond offered 7. absolute madness for injury proneShould we have thrown buckets of cash at Jumbo Ravioli like Port?
I don’t get it. We tried hard for JHF, but he wanted Port. We tried for Bowes (pick 7), but he wanted Victoria.
Other than overpaying fat blokes, what else are we supposed to do?
Would explain the Eagles trading down to get WA talent such as Hewett.Rumours one of Tsatas or Wardlaw told gws and west coast not to draft them
Yes ....and GibneyWould explain the Eagles trading down to get WA talent such as Hewett.
He's contracted for 2023 - which means he's not a UFA, and it also means we'd need to pay out his 2023 contract in the 2022 salary cap. Short answer - no chance.Kind of amazing how quickly the whole league has reduced the value of players like Crouch.

Not even remotely close to even being relevant to my statement.
satisfied with the Rankine deal because to most people, thats nothing special as he wanted home
Pretty sure they meant next yearHe's contracted for 2023 - which means he's not a UFA, and it also means we'd need to pay out his 2023 contract in the 2022 salary cap. Short answer - no chance.
In which case, yes - he will almost certainly be delisted in 2023.Pretty sure they meant next year
